Do your babies sleep through the night?
 

My babies do sleep thru the night. They sleep in their crates. I never cut off water. When they get up in the morning they fly outside to pee-pee:) They usually sleep from about 11 till around 7 or 8 am.

I have 2 yorkies who are 9 months old & they sleep through the night (most of the time). It took a while to get them to that point. They are bigger yorkies at 9.5 & 11.5 pounds. I used to take their water dishes away around 8:00 at night & that helped (bedtime is around 10pm & they usually wake up around 6:30AM or so). I do not use pee pads because all they did was tear them up. They go potty outside. Now I keep the water dishes down all the time & I keep water down in their play room where they sleep. We moved them into the basement because they would wake up at any random noises (house pops/cracks at night, one of us getting up to go to the bathroom or get a drink of water, rain, etc), so we moved them into the basement & it worked for us. I got very stressed for a while when they didn't sleep through the night so I know how you feel if your sleep is getting disrupted!

I have and Pixie got into the habit of waking up every few hours because my pom (RIP) had Cushings and woke up all through the night. Maya has been gone since February and no matter how much I try I cannot get Pixie to stop waking me up. I haven't slept thru the night in years. The other 2 would sleep through the night but get up because Pixie does.

My 7 1/2 month does , my little 8 wk old that i got yesterday 7-30-09 woke me up at 10:00 and again at 2:oo both times he had to pee, i am papper training him to . So i took him both times and put him on his papper and he peed and i put in right back in his crate i was very pleased with him he never peed or any thing in his crate and he did'nt ever cry well other than when he need to pee :)

My 4 month old Bailey never wakes me up anymore, he is kept in a Xpen and if he wakes up to pee, take a drink of water or have some food, he will go back to sleep afterward.

First, I never take the water away. And I get CoCoa B. up twice @night 2 go potty.

Morgan has slept thru the entire night since she was 5 months old and will wait for me to get up (which on the weekends may not be till 11-12 o'clock). Between 4-5 months old i'd say she was waking up at 5 or 6 am for me to take her outside to potty. She's now 3 years old and will wait until i take her out no matter what the time is.

Edit: i also never took morgan's water away at night. She had a water bottle attached to her crate at all times.

Niyah usually sleeps through the night unless she didn't poop that day. Like this morning, she got me up at 5 am and I took her out. She is so good letting me know when she has to go. She walks back and forth on the bed to let me know. That is the first thing that came to my mind when I woke up to her walking back and forth on the bed. I usually have her sleep in her kennel but last night she slept with me.

Lucas sleeps through the night, but he does get up early (6 or 7) to go out, then usually comes back to bed :)

Jackson sleeps through the night in my bed and has since he was about 16 weeks old in my bed.

Although lately he's been waking up wayyy earlier than usual at 6-6:15am and I hate it! lol. He will go back to bed though.
He's outdoor trained.

Bailey sleeps through the night - and pretty much always has. That said, we get up at 5;30 every am (including weekends to keep on schedule) to pee and eat. On the weekends, we go back to bed :)

Juicy sleeps through the whole night and wakes up when I get up which is sometimes late(11-12). When we stay with my boyfriend, Juicy wakes him up at 8 each morning. She is a funny little one.

Rockies my alarm clock at 6:30a.m. to get up for work everyday mon-fri:p he potties on his wee wee pad throughout the night. He very rarely wakes my daughter or myself. His water bowl stays in his x pen, I 've taken it up a couple times but usually its in his x pen.

My babies stayed asleep the whole until the morning they wake up and go potty

Mickey sleeps through the night and has since a few nights after we got him home about a month ago. He is almost 18 weeks right now. He typically eats his dinner and has water around 6 or 7 pm. Then we go for a nice long walk around the neighborhood (30-40 minutes). After that, we come in and he has water and we leave it down for a while. He plays with each of my children while I bathe the other--and with my husband while I put the kids to bed. During that time, my husband usually picks up the water and takes him out briefly so that he can go if he has to. For the rest of the evening, I play with him or just hold him and he usually falls asleep on my lap. I put him in his crate around 11. He never barks or cries when he wakes up in the morning..he waits for us. We can get up and walk around....and do whatever, but I try to get dressed quickly and take him out. He never has an accident or anything in his crate. We usually get him up around 7 or 8.

Mickey is really high energy and very playful...He loves to play with his toys and play ball throughout the day and in the evening...and of course, my kids play with him like crazy! I think he's just exhausted by night time!

Bailey wakes up and pees 2 to 3 times during the night and it worries me that he can't hold it all night long. I wonder if he's just so used to having th "luxury" of a pee pad or if he seriously can't hold it. Is there a test I should have the vet do to make sure he's ok? He pees a lot.

Arghhhh,,, Am I the only one with a 8mo that still wakes in the middle of the night to pee. So now I've learned to pick up the water by 8pm, walk at night and maybe I'll get a full long night sleep. I've been doing this since she was 3mo and I broght her home. I'm afraid to jinx it but I think we've had a few days of no accident potty training and now I just need some sleep. She also wake usually around 6:30-7am (which I hear is normal) but I used to sleep till 9a ( I work till 11p). Any other suggestions? She also sleeps with me so I don't have to hear screaming from the living room crate. (Yes, I'm tired). I used to get kisses to wake up, now she just walks over me and growls to wake me lol, kinda funny. DH would love to give her the boot from the bedroom, but I won't have it, so she hopefully will start sleeping the whole night and we'll be good.

its easiest to break the pottying in the middle of the night habit if you crate train (or at least it was for me). Morgan will absolutely NOT potty in her crate. So as she got older (4 -5 months) and i knew she could hold it all night i started to ignore the middle of the night cries and she did hold it all night.

Morgan slept in her crate and then her ex-pen for over a year. She was just too small for me to feel safe having her in bed with me. She wouldn't make a noise if i happened to roll on her so i was afraid i'd smush her.

Puppies get used to waking up in the night because that's what they've been doing all alone. They know that if they cry, you will get up and take them outside. So if you know that they can hold it, ignore them and they will go back to sleep once they realize you are not getting up to let them out.

Or if they wake up every night at like 2 am, start ignoring them for another hour and take them out at 2:30 or 3. slowly start adding more and more time until you get them to sleep all night.

Maddie is 2 yo and she sleeps until I get up...6-7. If we go to bed early, sometimes. I was sick for a few days last week. She laid with me for two days straight and went out only a few times. She slept by my side the whole time.:rolleyes:

I really don't understand why Bailey doesn't sleep through the night at 5 years old. He gets up to pee at least 2 to 3 times. Do you think he could have a problem? The past week he's been panting for no reason. He's laying on the couch and he'll start panting. The lights about us are really hot and his hair is thick. I know we need to get him thinned out. He drinks a lot of water lately because of it but he's always woken up to pee and never been able to hold it for any length of time. It just seems like i'm noticing it more lately.

you can always drop off a urine sample to the vet to have it tested for a UTI. If he is pee pad trained then he has never had to hold it for any length of time. He has only known that when he has to pee he can just walk to the pad and go. Doesn't matter what time it is.

It has been really hot lately and my morgan has a thick coat too. I shaved her for the summer because it was just too much for her.

That's what I was thinking too. I've always taught him that if he has to go, to go to that pad and do his duties. The pad is always down and he NEVER has to hold it. So maybe that is a factor and i'm just being a nervous nellie because i'm getting woke up and I want to make sure that he's not sick. I'm so protective when it comes to Bailey. I've always had Yorkies growing up (my family did anyway) none of them lasted past 5 years because of medical reasons beyond our control... :( I think that makes me more nervous because Bailey just turned 5 in May. He has pancreatitis, LP and IBD which I'm controlling with diet, supplements and vitamins... (so far). Please keep him in your prayers for me. He's been good for 2 months!

If I had it to do over again, I would train him to do his duties outside and only use a pee pad for emergencies... but I was ill at the time and didn't have a choice :rolleyes:.

Lola is now almost 2 years old and has slept on my bed since she was about 5months old, and Raider is 8 months old now and has also slept in my bed since he was about 5 months old. They sleep throughout the night and very rarely have to get up for potty time. They are both trained to use the pee pads, but will go outside too if necessary. We usually go to bed around 10 p.m. on work days and 1 a.m. on weekends, and get up at 6:30 a.m. on work days and around 10 a.m. on weekends. I also never take their water away, so they drink until bedtime with no problems in the night. They are such good babies!
