Hi! I'm new... Our 4 month-old little girl, Sukoshi, is quite a handful! I thought it was just us, but we've successfully house trained and obedience trained a pomeranian and an english bulldog, but this 1.4lb yorkie is about to defeat us! She refuses to housebreak, will run when we try to "catch" her and is terrorizing the Pom! Help! |
:welcome4: Sounds like you are experiencing the joys of a Yorkie pup. It gets better with time. |
Welcome to the group :) |

Hello and Welcome to YorkieTalk! |
Hi and welcome to YT. |
For house training I suggest an ex-pen, piddle pads, lots of Nature's Miracle, and patience. Welcome. |
Welcome to YT... |
ThankS! Thanks for the advice, everyone! I do adore her, but Yorkies are certainly a breed apart! I guess I expected this tiny little thing to sit in my lap and cuddle all day, and instead, she bites, nips and growls, all while wagging that little tail and cocking that little head like she's daring me to stop her! The vet just laughs and says she's hilarious. We're litter box training. She is doing pretty well with that. Her accidents are getting fewer and she's finally stopped playing in it (ugh! nasty!). I'm having trouble getting a picture to post, but I'll keep working on it. |
great fun aren't they |
Welcome to the YT family. Their "issues" seem to come in stages just like children. Just when you think you are out of one,.....another comes along just for grins. Enjoy them, that's what they are for. |
Welcome to Yorkie Talk. I felt much the same as you are feeling. You will need lots of patience, but boy it's surely worth it. Calleigh started calming down at about 1 and by 1 1/2she was great. She was a very hyper puppy and is still that way at times. For me the wee pad training works if you reward them with treats and praise. The problem with me is I'm still giving the treats to her occasionally at 2 yrs. old. :) Good luck. |
Welcome, I know what you mean, our little girls is going on 4 months old and she always runs when you try to catch her, and there are times that she just picks on her bigger brother he is 7 months old he does seem to put up with it. I know it will take time, I just want the potting training part over. |
Hello and Welcome!!! If she gets too bad I'd recommend going back to puppy training basics 101 and keep her on a leash inside so you can show her there's no running away and she needs to listen to you. I agree w/what everyone's told you as she gets older it will get better. |
