Some people. So I'm out taking my two an early walk, coming towards us is a guy with a small terrier cross dog wearing a lead from a rescue home. We meet, my two greet this dog, I say hello to the owner who tells me he was thrown from a car poor thing. Then and only then does he tell me the dog has this dog has a cough and perhaps I should not let them get so close. Errrm, it would have been nice if he'd told me this before they'd started sniffing and breathing all over each other. Just hope my two dont come down wiyh kennel-cough or something. I'm really looking forward to some much needed relaation time this holiday, not taking care of sick dogs because of some-one elses stupidity. |
I hope you told him how inconsiderate he was ! |
Yes, people can be very unknowledeable or just do not care. people need to keep sick puppies away from other dogs as much as they can. Rockie had a fever and l did not take him around my sisters terrier at all. |
I'd started to say I hope its not kennel cough, but he jumped in and said he was gonna get him some Benalyn then he was off. He shouldn't have even been taking the dog out but he seamed completely oblivious to the dangers to other dogs. |
Ya that was very stupid of him  Hope your dog is ok. Maybe you can get some " Healthy Pet Omega Alpha" and gave some to your dog just as a prevention measure... It is an immune system booster. |
Stupid is right. I'm just as angry at the rescue, what are they thinkink of letting dogs go to their forever homes if they know they have K.C at the kennels. They are affiliated with a much bigger well known kennels regularly seen at T.v. There supposed to treat them as soon as they arrive. I had one scare years ago after my sister b.i.l had a dog from there and he had it. I had to treat 7 dogs just-in-case. Dont want to go through that again. |
Oh wow, we went through kc at our house shortly after we took in Sebastian the collie. Sebastian was pretty sick, our bassett was just a lttle sick for a few days but our beagle that was allergic to EVERYTHING was miserable. I thought we might loose him! That is a wicked wicked illness. Hope your little ones don't get it. At least you were out in the fresh air as opposed to a confined area. Good Luck! |
UGH!!!!:thumbdown:mad: some people just DO NOT think! I hope your babies don't catch anything. |
Thankyou all for your concern. Just thought I'd give an update. So far so good, no sign of coughing from either of them though I think the incubation time is about 10 days, its been 7. They both seam pretty healthy judging by the amount of trouble they keep getting into. |
I'm glad to hear they are doing ok :aimeeyork |
have your pups had a kennel cough vaccine? Because it is so contageous, I make sure my girls are always up to date with that vaccine. |
Glad to hear your babies seem ok. The shelter where I volunteer put dogs with kennel cough in isolation and they are not available for adoption until cleared. |
I don't know how long it takes after a cannine has been exposed to Kennel cough to contract the illness. However, sincing your two are not showing any signs , and if they have not been treated for it, I would take them in to your vet and get them treated . It is very simple. A spray is administered in their nose , that is it. Miley, my pup just had hers. She shook most of it out , afterwards. Droplets fell out onto the table. I wondered how much it did any good for her . When Suzi had her treatment, she did not shake her head . Miley is the more fiesty of the two. |
