Tangles, Darnit! My 4 month old cottony coat Yorkie has a number of tangles despite the fact that I comb him every day. I also use CC systems products including ice on ice. What's the best way to get tangles out? Wet or dry? Comb or brush? Also, I've seen "thinning" mentioned - how does one go about that??? Thanks for your help! I'm afraid I'm going to have to have him groomed even though I didn't want to start that yet. |

take your time in combing, take piece by piece and comb from the root of the hair.. the same thing happened to my lexi and i had to have her shaved cause it would of been to painful for her if i had to comb it all out... i should of took my time and tried to comb it out first.. |
When Cheri was a baby she knotted up bad - I used Johnsons No More Tangles for (REAL) babies and you'd be amazed how many little tangles I got working them out with my fingers - it slicks the hair so you can pull them apart - Just saturate the knots - and use your fingers first then a comb....Good luck - |

I have found something that really works well on the matting. My male has a cotton coat too. I shampoo and condition him with day to day shampoo from Chris Christensen. During his bath when I have the conditioner in I either comb or brush his hair with the conditioner still on then I rinse. Not only does that take the tangles out it keeps them out. |

too too tangled martini has finally grown accustomed to her daily brushing. she is a tender head. i have long hair, myself, so i assume i am gentle and use the correct technique for brushing by starting at the bottom of her long hair and working up toward the root. no more tangles freaks her out. its wet. i find it doesn't continue to work once the job is done and her fur is dry either. i started using a dab of my own hair product on her. it helps me with combing and brushing and prevents future tangles. it takes the dry, frizzy, wirey behavior out of fine hair. it doesn't need to be used with every brushing either. its a serum similar to frizz ease and silk therapy. its like grease w/out oil in it. i bought one & made sure it didn't have alcohol in it. it works well for her. it has eased my mind about the whole grooming thing. i do not want to ever have to shave her. her coat looks shiny and falls well now. no more mats! thank goodness... |

Try combing against the direction the hair grows. Then comb the hair back. It'll get the matts directly on the skin. |
