Mirandaann | 07-30-2009 03:21 PM | Why does he do this???? My 15 week old puppy has been doing really well in his crate at night and during the day when we can't watch him constantly. We are going to have days in the coming weeks when we can't be home with him all day so I closed off a small room (approx 5'x5') with a 3' tall board. We put some toys, pee pads, food and water in the space along with his crate. When I put him there earlier today he went CRAZY!! Barking very loudly, whining, crying and jumping all around. He finally settled after about 30 minutes and then started up again a few minutes later. We were having supper when he quieted and couldn't get him right away. By the time we finished he was going nuts again so I waited for him to be quiet a few minutes before getting him out.
Why does he go crazy when he has more room?? Do you think he just needs to adjust to the space? and is there anything I can do to make the transition from being confined to his crate to having more room so that he can relieve himself if he needs to? Y'all usually have great advice so I'm hoping for some ideas or some reassurance that he will get used to it.
(Also, I played with him in his new "room" for a little while before I left him in the first time.) |
