Best puzzle toys for yorkies? Has anyone had any luck finding puzzle toys that your babies like? I want to get something to keep Lola occupied when I'm not home, and she gets tired of the Kong so fast. All the other puzzle toys I've come across at pet stores just seem so big (she's only 3 lbs), I don't think she would enjoy pushing them around, etc. Have you had any good experiences with puzzle toys? Where did you find them? Thanks! |
Mine all love the hide a squirrel...its not to big for my 3 pounder. |
We use everlasting treat balls when London will be home alone for a few hours. It keeps her busy. Downside is it does contain garlic, which some feel can accumulate in the organ and cause damage, so we only use it for special occasions. |
Buster & Bailey have recently been introduced to Busy Buddies & LOVE THEM - they really like the bouncy bone,, with or without a treat. Here's the link to see the toys: http://www.busybuddytoys.com/View.aspx?page=dogs/products/toys/busybuddy. I bought them the Bouncy Bone (with extra treats) & the Twist n Treat at our local animal health center but they are sold all over the place. My pups love their kongs too but get bored with them after they get the treat out. I too am looking for more toys to keep them from getting so bored while I'm at work & they're home alone. I've heard good things about the Hide-a-Toys but haven't gotten any of those yet since they're not sold in my area. You can check out this thread too, there were some good suggestions that I have on "my list" to buy: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/fun-toys/176636-what-toys-do-you-leave-them-when-theyre-alone.html |

Thanks for all of the suggestions! Can't wait to try some! |
Stella has the everlasting treat balls (she LOVES those, she'll lick them for HOURS), and the hide a squirrels. She doesn't play with the hide-a-squirrels unless I'm here, but it gives her something to do while I'm in the other room cleaning or whatever. |
a friend maybe? Sounds to me like Lola needs a companion. My Lexy has a black pug sister who is about a month younger and 14lbs bigger and they play together all the time. |
We have the busy buddy toy that looks like a jar with a rope sticking out the neck. Even though it is big our babies drag it around by the rope and they love it. I have mixed treats in with dog food and put htat in, but that just makes them play with it and leave the dog food all over the floor, just eating the treats lol. Very messy. Keeps them busy, but then we have to clean up. So now I just put the dog food in without any treats. The rope on this toy is kinda nasty now. Anyone have any idea how to wash it? We also have the molecule small size that we put dog food in. We just got a new one, starmark everlasting treat ball, it is blue and smells like vanilla. You can put treats inside as well. Expensive but the dogs love it, they love the treats, and it keeps them busy. We got a sphericon football, not meant to hold treats really, but we shove milkbone types of treats in through the holes. I love this thread! With a new puppy in the house it is always fun to get new toys  |
We have a kong toy and he gets bored too as soon as he gets the treat out. We heard a lot about the hide-a-squirrel so we got one and he does love it, as something to hump more than as something to play with. When he does play with the squirrels he gets them out and then takes his front teeth and bites the fuzz off of the tails and the tops of the heads. :scratchhe go figure. We will try some of the suggestions on here for some new toys. Most of the time he plays with an empty plastic water bottle. |

Gucci loves the Hide-A-Squirrel and Hide-A-Squirrel Jr. He also enjoys the I Qube but he doesn't like his Hide-A-Bee AT ALL and won't play with it. He also enjoys egg babies sometimes. |
