what to feed my new puppies??? I adopted my two babies last Sunday! The breeder had them on purina puppy chow. I continued that but now I am ready to transition to a natural brand. I have read so much on all the brands and I am overwhelmed! I have considered Fromm or Royal Canin,if you do recommend please tell me where to purchase it. HELP! |
We feed Milo Wellness Just for Puppy (wet and dry) and have been pleased with it. It is a high quality food and can be purchased at Petco in addition to many pet supply stores. You can find retailers here: All Natural Dog Food - WELLNESSŪ We have also heard good things about Innova on this site and may try it when Milo is ready to transition from puppy food to adult food. Good luck with your new babies and welcome to YT. |
Congratulations on your new babies!! :aimeeyork Both my boys are on Royal Canin. The puppy one for a healthy coat. I get it from my vets office! |

I've just begun using Halo and Merrick all natual, no wheat or by products. I'd always used Royal Caninl, starting with the Weaning Blend, granduating to Puppy 33 and then on to RCYT28..... But, I have a girl that has had prblems with her skin....so, started investigating other brands.... |
HI, AND WELCOME! My three were the pickiest little brats on this earth, so I've tried it all. As long as you stay away from meat-by-products and grains you should be ok. There are a number of sites out there that have rated dog foods. This is one of the sites that I used when I was trying to learn about the different foods. Dog Food Analysis - Reviews of kibble I hope that it will help you. We started out with Evo, then raw for awhile, Innova, Solid Gold Wee Bits, and now I feed Wellness Small Breed. For treats, I just read the bags carefully to make sure there are no grains or meat by products. Best of luck to you. You'll learn what is bad for them soon. Oh yeah, I guess you know, absolutely no chocolate and no grapes, no matter how badly they want to taste what you are eating. Just wanted to mention that. |
Stella was put on Royal Canin when she was a puppy, and while I don't really have a problem with the food (considering what's out there, it's a good food), I thought she might be getting bored with it by 5/6 months, and I didn't want her to develop allergies (she had been itching a little), so now I'm feeding 1/2 Royal Canin Puppy and 1/2 Natural Balance Ultra Premium. She really likes the taste of the Royal Canin, but I think the Natural Balance is better for her (more veggies, cranberries, more meat), so I trick her and mix them both together with a little bit the Chicken Soup for the Puppy Lover's Soul wet food. Then she doesn't just pick out her favorite pieces. Hopefully she'll get bored with the RC eventually so I can switch her to NB exclusively. |
Hi and Welcome to YT! I feed Canidae All Life Stages. It can be fed from puppy to adult with out ever changing brands. I used to feed Eukanuba till I found out they weren't the best. They love it and so do I it is all natural. |
researched food for my yorkie After thousands of animals dying from dog and cat food. I have found a great dog food. Orijen has no grain! It builds the muscle in your dog. You should not over feed your dog. Many of the members of my local yorkie group have switched to Orijen. It is expensive but well worth it. You can google them to find out who sells the product in your area. |
When Addie was still a puppy, I got her Wellness for puppies. Now I have her on Evo, and she loves it. I would recommend getting a puppy-specific formula i.e., one that says "for puppies." While researching food, I've read many times not to give puppies a diet with too much protein. I would not have fed my pup Evo or other non-grain forumlas under the age of one because of that fear. When your pup hits a year, then you can venture out to the non-grains. |
I feed my little man Blue Buffalo chicken & brown rice puppy food. |
i feed milu primal raw. (used to feed her nature's variety raw medallion) for kibbles, she has taste of the wild, halo, nature's variety freezed dry, and solid gold. she likes halo kibbles best. |
i like natures variety evo and origens. And primal raw food. |
