Scared out of my mind! So I just got done walking Snickers, my mom walked with me half way but decided she needed to go home so went home. I walked most of the way fine but about 2 streets away from my house a car stopped in the middle of the street that had 2 guys in it. They watched me walk for about ten minutes, i started walking faster and faster untill I was almost running. Poor snickers couldn't keep up with me so i was half pulling him and he was running as fast as he could. :( Anyway, they watched me untill they couldn't see me anymore and turned around made a u-ie and followed me in the car. Driving really slow so they could stay up with me. I jsut booked it when I got around the corner, I picked Snickers up and ran home. They didn't turn onto my street luckily. Where's my pepper spray when I need it? Oh wait, I have none.:p I'm so scared! The people across the street have always been a little iffy and I think thats where the guys live.:( |
Omgosh, that's so scary! I would definitely go get some pepper spray and keep an eye out when you go anywhere by yourself. I'm so sorry that happened to you :( |
That is scary. Did you get their license plate number? I would be very careful coming and going and make sure your baby is secure in the house. |
Yea thats crazy. Always walk with your cell phone and pepper spray and If you have an house alarm make sure you use it too just so you can feel safe. Also have someone always to walk with you |
Please be safe! If you have any suspicions at all about certain people don't take any chances. Pepper spray is a good idea. |
Same thing happened to me a few years back. I ended up going to a neighbor's house (I didn't know them at the time, but we're good friends now!). I suggest making a plan of what you will do if it happens again and to make friends with people along your walk. Make a mental note of who is home when you walk. Take your keys and put one inbetween each finger, then make a fist. A swipe at the face will buy you time to exit. A thin, glossy paged magazine rolled up tightly will add power to your punch when held in your hand. A whistle will draw attention to you. Pepper spray is good too... get some. And pay attention and always be aware ... |
That is so scarey! I'm really glad that you are OK. I wouldn't walk alone anymore if I were you. |
Be very careful!! and make sure you keep a good eye on your furbaby. We've had two yorkies stolen from us:(, my mother and mother in law's (from two completely different areas). They seem to go "missing" quite a lot here in california. |
That's terrible. Yea, snickers is always kept inside when we are gone, even if he has accidents because we are gone to long. I didn't have my cell phone with me either :( It could have been really bad. Usually when this happens like at the walmart parking lot I have my phone and pretend to talk to some one. Lol I didn't get the liscense plate number, I was to focused on whos house I could run too. It was a blue car though, I have a photographic memory, man I should've looked. |
Put your cell phone to your ear as if making a call and at the same time take a sneaky pic of them, at least then you have some photo evidence if anything untoward should happen in the future. |
omg please be careful. i hope they weren't trying to follow you to take snickers becuase you know a lot of people want yorkies but dont want to pay for them. please be careful. if you have to walk 30mins earlier than your normal time that would be better. |

Please be safe! Always have your cell phone with you. It's also a good idea to change up the times of your walks. Try not to walk the same time every day. I'm so sorry this happened to you. It's frightening! |
Wow - be careful! :eek: I had a similar incident the day we moved into our new house and knew NO ONE but I was in my car. We didn't get cell service at our house and had no home phone so I drove to a parking lot about 3 blocks from my house. 2 guys in the car...so I left...and they followed me. I was NOT going home (where my children were) so I drove down A1A FAST (there are always tons of police on that road....NOT ONE that night:rolleyes:) Finally I was at a red light and they were pulled up right next to me. When the light turned green I made an illegal right turn (there was a previous "off ramp" type turn to go right) and booked it on outta there! I was scared out of my mind! I can't imagine how much MORE scared I would have been had I been walking :eek: Please be more cognoscente of your surroundings now ! Lisa |
Wow! Isn't is sad... :( right in your own neighborhood?!? I never walk without my cell phone and I love the idea of going and knocking on someones door.. even if you don't know who lives there!:thumbup: Hugs to you and Snickers!!:D |
I just got home from salt lake city last night and it was late and kinda dark. I never like to walk in the dark, but you should have seen Snickers face. He saves up all his pee to go on his walk too. (Well most of it) I'm not gonna walk alone tonight. |
Good just be extra careful. Hopefully they are not in the area anymore. |
Oh geez, I know you were scared to death, for you and for Snickers. There have been incidents where a car will drive up beside a person walking a dog, Yorkies in both incidents I know about, and stop and jump out and grab the dog and off they go. It just isn't worth the risk, maybe you can just walk around the back yard a jillion times? |
Take someone with you when you go walk Snickers. Especially at night . If you are a minor , then if this ever happens again, you need to call the police. It is very scary that it happend to you, however, it happens , and walking alone, is very dangerous for a female . Please be very careful. |
So glad you and Snickers are safe. Always change your walking path, never go the same way twice in a row. Reverse directions and always carry your cell with you. I have two yorkies and am leash training the little one for our walks, we live next to our local airport which has lots of dark spots and the park close by, (lots of people hang out there at night) so I am always extra careful. Please be safe. |
That is awful! I agree, take a whistle or some type of horn. Can you take someone with you when you walk? You don't have a backyard? I would get pee pads for your pup. That is just too scary! Please be safe. |
Oh no, I have a back yard. He just likes to save up and pee on everything on his walk :p I usually have someone with me, like my mom. But she was tired. I usually go a different way everyday, (reversing directions). |
I'm glad you are okay!! We are moving right now because the last few months things like this have been happening. I always use to go to the park next to the police station to walk. Up until a few weeks ago I would go hiking in the hills behind my house by myself... I had pepper spray, my phone strapped to my arm and a walking stick umbrella thing. But since the rash of people getting robbed while walking I am waiting til we move. I just heard of a second yorkie stolen in the same city just blocks away. People should be ashamed of themselves! Keep safe and always carry spray and at least your phone. |
So scary! Definitely make sure you tell a few neighbors that you trust (if there are any) or any of your friends so that if anything happens like that again you can either go to your neighbor's house (cut through backyards if you have to!) or have a friend come over pronto. I really hope they don't/didn't have bad intentions for you and your dog! |
