Please try to get your baby to quit jumping. My Yorkie Max was pushed off the couch and broke his right leg. Two nights later he jumped off of my bed and broke his left leg. Max was always a jumper, off the bed, off the couch, and it ended up with the two broken legs. |
From what I understand, injury aside jumping off of things can bring out LP. I myself use my own judgement. I will never allow her to jump off my bed it's way to high. My Livingroom couch and chair are low to the ground though and she can get on them with ease, I do allow her to jump down from them because it just isn't that far from the ground. |
Foot stools and training When Samantha was just a tiny puppy I started buying footstools for the bed and the couches. She likes to lie on the back of one of the couches in the sun. I've told her again and again not to jump down from there and she doesn't, for which I am grateful. Fortunately, when she doesn't use the stools she usually sort of flows to the floor. She can jump as high as 3 or 4 feet, and the scariest thing she did was jump up onto a game table which was on a marble floor. Fortunately, she called me instead of jumping down. After the second time, I always kept something on top of the table so there wasn't room for her. She's 3 kilos (about 6.6 pounds). People are always amazed that she can jump so high off the floor. I suppose that if soccer doesn't work out as a career, she can try basket ball. ;) |
I guess I don't have this problem. My Yorkie is 7.1 lbs. Although he isn't allowed on furniture except once in a while when I pick him up to sleep on my lap. He is not allowed to jump on the bed or couch himself, so he doesn't really jump down. This might work for your dog too. |
