What is a modified coat? Is there such a thing? How do you tell if your yorkie has this type of coat, as opposed to a silk or cotton coat? |

Thanks, Rebecca! I had seen this thread when it first started, but it doesn't really answer what a modified coat is or if there is such a thing. Chachi's description of Jewels sounds like Murphy's coat, though, so maybe that's what he has. I'm using the exact same products on Murphy's coat that she is, too. |

I'm curious too & would like to see a pic of a Yorkie w/a modified coat. |
I've been trying to find information on it...no luck:( |
Here's what I read. Removing the coat on the inside of the legs, behind the elbows and other areas that the small hairs get tangled. It's basicly keeping the hair cut shorter such as a puppy cut. Here's another link with an explanation of it: http://www.associatedcontent.com/art...er.html?cat=53 |
Yes, there are coats that seem to be a mixture of the silk and cotton coats. I believe that my Max has that kind of coat. Silk coats are suppose to feel cool to the touch, very shiney, don't matt easily, and of course feel silky. Cotton coats are more thick, fluffy, matt easily, and sometimes dull. Modified or as I like to call it combination coats have characteristics of both. When I bathe Max his hair comes out silky and BEAUTIFUL but after two days his hair gets dull and could matt if I didn't brush him. He is light colored and has thinner, longer hair so it makes a big difference on how often I bathe him. He is a boy and likes to get dirty. Keeping it clean makes it less stressful for both of us. Right now I'm using Spa Lavish products on him. Mia, on the other hand has cotton hair and I have to keep it cut - not shaved! Actually, she matts less, now. Her hair is so thick that I have to use Neutragena (?) T-Gel to make sure I can get her scalp clean. I just gave him a bath last night so I'll try to get a picture of it clean and then again in a couple days so that you can see the difference. |
cotton coat? my babie has I guess a cotton coat. He is 3 months old . Will it evently straighten as he gets older? |

Max's coat sounds like Mimi's too. She has very fine silky hair & if I don't bathe her weekly, she'll start to mat. She's on the lighter side as well. I've seen Max & Mia on your albums before...they're beautiful! Spa products are excellent & I love the fragrance. |
