Pro's and Con's of male and female... My family and I are going to meet a breeder and her skin and fur family on Saturday :) Of course if we like what we see we will be putting down a deposit to hold one of the pups. Problem is, she has one male and one female. The pup will be able to come home with us in October so right now they are still little and we can't see their personalities. I would love to hear your opinions on how to go about this and any suggestions you all may have. Pro's and Con's of male and female would be greatly appreciated. The breeder is extra nice and has really gone out of her way to help us through this process of searching for a pup. She has already sent us pictures of the pups, mom and dad. We can't wait to meet them! :animal36 |
My male and female are still young, but I think my male is more outgoing and loving. She's loving too, but more independent. I have heard that it just depends on each individual dog, but that has been my experience anyway. |
My Roscoe has been the best. He is super loving and loves to be held and cuddled. Girls are more fun to dress up though! LOL |
You cant go wrong with either. If it doesnt matter to you which sex, i would base the decision on your interaction with the pups. Which one you connect wih. |
males tend to be a little more of everybodies dog where as females pick their person.Either way you can't go wrong its a yorkie! |
We have 3 girls and one boy and if I would have to choose I would take the boy... Maximus is such a lover and cuddle bug and it is less expensive and less invasive to have a male neutered than to have a female spayed. I also think you have no say in that b/c the little one, either the boy or the girl, will choose you!!!! |
I have three boys and a girl and wouldn't trade any of them. They all have different personalities and qualities that make them all special. Some say that girls get more attached to the male in the household. Well not in my case my Maya doesn't leave my side and she loves to be held and cuddle. I always say she has eyes of love. My boys are all different--Jake the oldest is very independant and only likes to cuddle when he is in the mood and it usually last 2 minutes but he has the best smile. :D Brody is my little snuggle muffin. He loves to play but he always has time for mom. Not a big kisser but he has the sweetest personality. My baby Skyler is somewhat independant yet will kiss and kiss and kiss. He likes to be held and yet loves to play. He really is the best of both worlds. I guess if I had to choose boy or girl I would say I can't choose. Each dog no matter boy or girl has a different personality and each person is looking for something different. Some might like a more independant dog where some might want a dog that needs more attention and cuddles more. I know I haven't been much help but I've always gone with my gut feeling and I haven't gone wrong yet.:aimeeyork:aimeeyork:aimeeyork:aimeeyork |
Ive only had a male yorkie and I love him! I wouldn't trade him for the world. He is independant, but he still shows me great love! One problem I have had with him is that Ive had to clean his belly everytime he pees because it gets on his fur, but I really don't mind doing it. It's bonding time:) It seems like he enjoys it because I'm sure that its what his yorkie mom used to do:) |
I prefer females . :) |
Have one female and three males...which should tell you my preference. Boys hands down. |
I had my heart set on a girl, but the only female my breeder had failed to gain weight due to hypoglycemia and couldn't leave the nest. I had to pick from her 2 brothers. I wasn't sure that I really wanted a boy. I'm married with 2 sons and am the only chick in the house! I needed another gal to hang around with. But then I met my baby boy Kimbo and fell in LOVE. He's the best of both worlds. He plays rough with my husband and sons, but is very gentle and sweet with mommy! He always has TONS of kisses for all of us. He's a total mama's boy! |

I thought I'd never own a male. However, my breeder/mentor talked me into one. Telling me that male yorkies were more likely to please, loveable and gravitated towards the females of the house. Girls are a bit more moody (hormone thing going on), more independent and demanding. Even when it comes to the show ring, I'd rather show a boy, they are just more consistent. The girls in my house tend to belong to my husband, following him around, expecting his attention. |

My experience has been that the males are more loving as well at least as a general rule. The girls are loving too but just not to the extent that the males are. Girls are fun to dress up though. I think I would make your decision based on the pups personality first not on which sex they are. |
I don't like the marking that males do. Walks are so much easier with a female! LOL |
