Pee pad TERROR! Please help! Hi everyone, I am at my wits end with this situation!! Juno is trained to go on the pee pads. But he just ends up chewing them up. He rips at them, and eats the cotton "stuffing". I try to make him stop. He is 12wks old. How can i get him to stop attacking the pads? I have also tried the washable ones, but he still starts to nibble on the corners of the pad. He will lie down on the dirty pad (eww) and just lay there and nibble away! Has anyone had this issue ever? Pls help! |

Thanks for the quick response. i forgot to write that this lil pup LOVES the Bitter Yuck Spray! I have sprayed the sides down with Bitter Yuck, but he just sits there and nibbles away. i dont know if i should the try bitter apple one. i would assume they both work the same. I really dont know what to do. I really want to leave him during the day with pee pads, but i know he will just eat the stuffing! |
You might try the washable Pee Pads, I just love them. And saves a ton of money not buying the throw away type. |
Stella does this too if she's upset with us about being put "in her area" when we leave. I think more than anything, she gets bored and likes the sound it makes when she plays with the plasticky/paper stuff, so I got her a toy that makes a similar noise and I leave it when we leave. She doesn't do it as often anymore. You might also try getting some of those "go-here" drops that attract a dog to potty in a certain place. They're a little stinky, but that might discourage him from laying on it and/or nibbling. That's funny about the bitter apple spray--we used to have a rabbit that would nibble on chair legs, so my dad put Tobasco sauce on the wood in the house to keep her from going after it and it turns out she LOVED the Tabasco sauce and would just run around licking it off everything! So strange! |
Have you tried using a pee pad holder? Pixel used to drag his pee pad around the house - many times AFTER using it - YUCKY DOG! LOL This solved all my problems :D Hopefully, it will help you too! http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA280_.jpg |
I had the same problem with Piper which started when she was about 15 weeks old. I tried pad holders with bigger pads, washable pads and I used the bitter apple spray that didn't bother her at all. I even tried newspaper in the pad holder. She would always shred her piddle pads. I finally gave up and outside trained her. |
I used strapping tape. Lol, it's the only thing that worked. We strapped every potty pad down for the 1st week or two. Of course, if your dealing with carpet that won't work. :) |
