Any RULES you've changed for your Yorkie? How many of you had certain rules ,, then you got your Yorkie and that all changed? Mine was " Noone is going to feed him people food" - ya well, he is the BIGGEST BEGGER, I have EVER seen,, he gets a little here and there. And I hated that people crated their dogs,, thought it was cruel... Well Bailey loves his crate, goes in even when he doesnt need too. And I use to buy average, cat food,,, until I found YT,,, now I buy the best food for my pets. How about you,, any rules changed since you got your Yorkies  |
OH yeah! Thor can get away with ANYTHING! No table food...that lasted a month, he's a begger. At my parents house, no pets on the furniture...we'll I've caught him IN the bed!! Countless others that I'm probably not remembering...these guys are the most spoiled little things!! But really, why do we get them? To love and spoil!!! |
:yelrotflm :yelrotflm :yelrotflm Rules?!? Oh, yeah, I remember rules ... they applied to our children and still apply to the grandchildren?? Are those the kind of rules?? :p Yeah, sure, we got rules ... rules like, we "hang" on our tiny edge of the biggest bed made so as to not disturb the "Queen Bee" at night? WE have lots of rules ... the only one who doesn't is Toto!!!! ;) |

I think I've changed more than anyone you could find on YT! We have a lab who was not even allowed in my bedroom....well Tucker sleeps on my bed! No dogs on the furniture? Ha! He picks his seat first! I swore if the dog peed on my carpet once he was gone.....my house is a litter box. (though he does seem to be getting better lately). Why spend money on expensive dog food and quality treats? Yeah, right. I spend more on food for him (and now our other pets) then I do on myself! Toys all over the house. He has a bigger wardrobe than I do! And you know what? he's worth every penny I spend. I love that little guy with all of my heart! Darn that Megan! She didn't sign off last night, so I just posted under her. lol, oh well...people will think she didn't like dogs before Tucker! Ha, serves her right for not logging off....Teri88 |

I also luv how they HOG the bed, and rather than Wake them,, ( cause they have SUCH a rough day ahead) we lay awake, or cramped, or with a big kink , somewhere,,, so they can sleep! What is wrong with US??!! |
I have my foot down on eating people food... But the one thing I did change is sleeping with me. When I first got Rams he slept in his create. Now he is in my bed taking up all the space every night! |
I too vowed to not feed Baby any people food, but she was just so cute, and it was always just a little piece....now if I don't give her something she lets out this really pitiful little whine/sigh. She even knows that if i am getting a little piece of something, like taking a bite and leaving just a little bit, that it is going to be hers. She also tries her tricks to get a treat even without a command. I love her so much. She is my Baby! |
Every rule we had....was broken... haha i guess that applys to alot of others on here too tho!! |
I agree with everything that was said already. I started having rules that lasted about 1 day. Then they went right out the window. Now we have are rules FROM Mac & Mellie. Basically they can do anything they want and I will love them to death. See I know how to follow THEIR rules. |
Rules? After living with Muffin for 14 years, the only rule that applied was to make her happy and love her as much as possible and the same rule applies to Kacee. :) |

I don't think I broke any...but Chanel and Cheri sure did create a bunch - this is the Tip of the Iceburg...I think they would be in this order Rule 1. Mom will jump and ask how high when we want her to Rule 2. Mom will have NO SOCIAL LIFE Rule 3. Mom will plan her necessary activities around US Rule 4. Mom will feel MAJOR Guilt if she is away from us Rule 5. Mom will not sleep late on any morning - IF we're up - she is too Rule 6. Mom will only shop for us - she has everything she needs I really think they have this list hidden in the toybox too |
Sully doesn't physically beg.....just with his eyes....and the rule still IS "no people food whatsoever" but, it has been known to "acccidentally" get dropped on the floor from time to time. ;) My cat also gets premium food now. I was giving her pretty good food, but like you, once I read things on here, now only the best of the best will do. Sully was very strictly in his crate during his training period. Now that he's fully housebroken, we took his crate apart. and bought him pillows to sleep on instead. Well, we let our friends borrow our crate for a while for their puppy and when they returned it to us, Sully woudn't come out! I realized that that was HIS HOUSE and how dare I take it apart again. So, we still have his little house together and he loves spending time in there. I'm sure there are other rules like you said but I'll have to think on it for a few more mins. |
After about a month the "she'll never sleep in my bed" rule went out the window - along with me being able to sleep how I want. I never thought something so small could hog a queen size bed and leave mom to hang off the edge :lol tears Also the people food rule has bent. Maddie will occaisionally get a people food treat - but after she has eaten puppy food - no substitutions |
Well my dogs dont get people food to often. I used to feed Iams but since Yorkietalk we have switched to a better brand. I didnt let qany of our pets sleep withus but now Jewels and Chachi sleep with us every night. |
Rules shmules....... I beleive now more then ever (Matise is my first yorkie) that rules simply just do not apply to these guys..... This is about the general digression in our house. (well all but the part about staying outside-we have never in my life kept any dogs outside.-even the outside dogs come inside whenever they want…. :p :D  This is from an email I got in the mail. 1. Dogs are never permitted in the house. The dog stays outside in a specially built wooden compartment named, for very good reason, the dog house. 2. Okay, the dog can enter the house, but only for short visits or if his own house is under renovation. 3. Okay, the dog can stay in the house on a permanent basis, provided his dog house can be sold in a yard sale to a rookie dog owner. 4. Inside the house, the dog is not allowed to run free and is confined to a comfortable but secure metal cage. 5. Okay, the cage becomes part of a two-for-one deal along with the dog house in the yard sale, and the dog can go wherever the heck he pleases. 6. The dog is never allowed on the furniture. 7. Okay, the dog can get on the old furniture but not the new furniture. 8. Okay, the dog can get up on the new furniture until it looks like the old furniture and then we'll sell the whole darn works and buy new furniture...upon which the dog will most definitely not be allowed. 9. The dog never sleeps on the bed. Period. 10. Okay, the dog can sleep at the foot of the bed. 11. Okay, the dog can sleep alongside you, but he's not allowed under the covers. 12. Okay, the dog can sleep under the covers but not with his head on the pillow. 13. Okay, the dog can sleep alongside you under the covers with his head on the pillow, but if he snores he's got to leave the room. 14. Okay, the dog can sleep and snore and have puppy dreams in bed, but he's not to come in and sleep on the couch in the TV room, where I'm now sleeping. That's just not fair. 15. The dog never gets listed on the census questionnaire as "primary resident," even if it's true. These were so funny!!!!! :lol tears we "hang" on our tiny edge of the biggest bed made so as to not disturb the "Queen Bee" at night? -------sometimes I sleep on couch because it is more comfortable.... " he picks his seat first" ------------or in our case justs sits on top of you---on top of your head if it was possible... " my house is a litterbox" -----------please I mean most days I am glad I can find the little pee spots before they stain or dry, there I am searching around like a crazy person for these pee spots and he's just following me around like whatever and I just think he's so cute when he turns his head sideways out of curiosity for what am I doing............. :( how they HOG the bed, and rather than Wake them,, ( cause they have SUCH a rough day ahead) we lay awake, or cramped, or with a big kink , somewhere,,, so they can sleep! What is wrong with US??!! ---------can you say charlie horse...... |

Villette, those sound like some of the rules my brats listed. There is naught but one rule in this household-well, maybe 2 but they are for the same reason.. 1) remind daddy to know where his feet are before he takes a step. and 2) if he does not obey that rule and steps on one of us, we all get to piddle in his shoe!! And, mommie can use cuss words that would make a trucker blush!!! |
