ears sorry i keep asking stuff i cant help it lol. i love talking yorkies haha. does everyones babies ears stick up? Daisys have always flopped down but i keep seeing yorkies with ears sticking up, craigs moms yorkie max's do 2. is daisy normal or not? does anyone elses yorkies have floppy down ears? |
You might need to have the groomer shave the tips for you so you can get them to stand up, or you might need to tape them. When I got Stella, she had crazy puppy hair on her ears, so I had the groomer shave the upper third of each ear and her left one is up on its own now perfectly, but the right one's tip still flops over a little bit if she's running, so I'll probably tape them one of these days...when I can be around to watch her destroy the tape. |
Hi! Toby has always had floppy ears too...as you can see from his picture. I love them though!! :) |
I think keeping the hair trimmed is a good start. I just use scissors and trim right around the edges. Sophie's ears flop and stand up...it depends on her mood. I heard you are not supposed to shave the ears because it can cause leather ear. |

One of Lucy's was down for a week or so and than popped back up. My friends puppies ears went down while it was teething and then popped back up, although it isn't a yorkie. |
it doesnt bother me her ears dont stick up, i think she looks cute lol just wanted to know she was ok if her ears dont stick up lol |
I think I read it in the rescue session once. One of the pups had leather ear and the rescue thought it was from getting the ears shaved. I don't think they meant the edges or the outline of the ear I think they meant the backside of the ear. I could totally be wrong?? |
Not sure how the groomer did it, but she trimmed the hair on her ears and she hasn't had any problems. Actually, the main reason I even bothered with it (because I thought her ears were cute the way they were) was that she got a yeast infection in her floppy ear after baths because I must've accidentally gotten some water in there when she was jumping around in the tub. Now that her ears are up for the most part, we haven't had the problem again. |
Roscoes ears do not stand up and I just love them!! I think they make him look so cute! :) |
I have the little girl who was talked about in the rescue section about leather ear being caused from shaving. Her name is Lolita. I honestly am not sure it ever was leather ear even though the vet had said it was. I doctored her for another 2 weeks after she came to live with us and all the hair came back and has to be trimmed at least once a month. I don't shave them but I do trim the edges. |
