Early delivery of babies I have a litter being born right now. They are 6 days early. So far they are nursing and whining. Im worried they are to early. Has anyone had puppies come this soon and have them be alright. The puppies are so tiny. We have never had any this small at birth. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. |
No help here.... but CONGRATULATIONS and GOOD LUCK !!! How exciting and scary at the same time - keep us posted on those new babies :) |
I suggest a crosspost in the breeding forum. I don't know if our breeders check in using the "new posts" feature or if they head straight for the breeding forum. What are the weights on the pups? Watch them closely and make sure they keep warm. |

If they are nursing without problems and kept warm , it is ok . |
Oh how exciting!!! Congrats! |
pups I have had 5 early and no problems...two stud clients with 7 days early. One had all dead pups born, one had all lives pups born and all lived..just keep doing what you are doing. Dog breeding is a crap shoot. |

And thanks to everyone that posted. scott |
I am sure those babies will be just fine! I don't think 6 days early will matter as much as like someone mentioned before, ya just keep those kids warm & happy! JM |
Pups With dogs, each week of pregnancy is equal to one month in a human...so 7 days early is riskier. Some are born with little hair on the head and legs. One 7 days early litter was all pink..no hair at all. |
Pat: I've been reading alot lately. The number 56 comes to mind when survival rates are discussed. Is that the semi "magic" day number that is usually the earliest pups can survive? Lisa |
Congratulations on your new litter! If nursing and keeping warm... they should be OK.... They will visit the vet in 3 days anyway (tail docked and dew claws removed)??? Keep us posted on them.... pictures would be nice!!! |
