Parti/Biewer question..... I'm always so fascinated by the Biewers and the Parti's. I'm curious about something though.... Do they still have silky or cottony coats or do they usually have cottony coats? The pictures I've seen usually look like they are more cottony and I'm just wondering if that is actually the case or if they are just like regular yorkies with some being cottony and some being silky? |

What's the difference between a biewer and a parti? At first I thought they were yorkie mixes, as I never seen one before joining YT. And I am pronouncing it "bue-wer", is that correct? |

Biewer is a German word, the W is prnounced as a V so it is actually more like Beaver. The difference between the biewer and the parti is where they originated and the lines that they came from. The Biewer comes from Germany and is not AKC. The partis are from American lines and are AKC. |
You will find a lot of controversial threads on here about the partis not being yorkies and so on. But the AKC DNA'd 42 litter of puppies before they were satisfied that they are purebred yorkies. No one knows where the parti gene came from or why it is in some lines and not in other lines. There is a lot of information on the parti color and the history of the yorkie at http://www.colorfulyorkie.com/CYTC_Parti_Color.htm |
Beaver??? Those are the cutest beavers I've ever seen! LOL |

Are they typically the same size as a yorkie, or grow larger? I know I always loved the coloring of them, and hoped to have one some day, I just don't know if I can ever love another "yorkie". :( |
The correct pronunciation of Biewer is Biva like Diva or Beaver but the 'r' on the end is rolled and almost silent or soft. I just say Biva. I asked one of our German friends to make a video of the correct pronunciation and that's how she said it. |

My Livi is a parti and she is not cotton coated, but I don't think she is as silky as my Izzy (traditional color) either. I am attaching some pictures for you to see...in the third and fourth pictures she had not been brushed so excuse her messy "bed head". ;) Tammy |
i've heard its not silky like traditional colored yorkies but that its not cotton like cotton coated yorkies. everyone says its soft which is confusing to us who haven't been able to feel what is meant by soft. does this "soft" coat mat like a cotton one? |
Biewers have differences in coat just like Yorkies do but I will agree that they don't feel the same as a standard Yorkie. You really have to feel a Biewer's coat to understand the difference...it's amazing. |
