Nursing other dog.....
 
Diamond (12 weeks) is eating perfectly well. She scarfs down anything I hand her. I have a boxer that is quite patient and tolerant. I walk in the room the other day and Diamond is just sucking away at Darby (the boxer) like she's nursing! Darby will be 2 tomorrow, never had a single litter and isn't even in heat. She was sitting there with her leg propped up just letting her go to town! Just wondered if anyone else has seen this before. It's become a habit whenever Diamond is ready to go to sleep. Darby is Diamonds pacifier. LOL

Sorry don't have any advise...but how cute is that!!!!

I'm sure someone here will help you. Maybe try the breeders section.

I think some little guys are just like children needing to suck on their thumbs even though they dont have bottles anymore. Skeeter used to grab my finger or thumb every chance he got and would suck on it. He is now 17 months old and still likes to hold on to my finger and take a nap.

I am assuming it's a maternal thing going on for your boxer to take care of the little puppy . That is kicking in. Otherwise the female boxer would not tolerate this one bit. She is being a mom, to your baby. I have heard that they can actualy produce milk if she does this long enough.
My 11 week old shih tzu and 16 month old yorkie play together , and it sometimes gets what looks a litttle rough, they never hurt each other, but the puppy is so little and she is the instigater:rolleyes: I now keep them in separate rooms when we are not home> Two females try to be the ALpha. I do not know what age this starts. But, I have to supervise at all times.
I think your boxer really is being maternal towards your pupy thinking that is her baby.

HAHA sounds so cute:D They are such sweet little monkeys! I only have one pup, so I can't help either. But post a picture

The boxer is my 4 year old sons dog. She tolerates EVERYTHING he does to her. She's goofy as can be but perfect for the kids lol. The 2 dogs get to playing rough as soon as Diamond yelps or whines Darby stops and starts licking her like oh no! I'll work on getting that pic at bed time tonight lol

This is too cute. If it makes you feel any better, I am somewhat going through the same thing. I had a litter born on 3/1. The largest Yorkie puppy didn't sell, so I gave him to my son. He has been neutered, but it's the strangest thing I have ever seen. I have a boxer too. She is so good. However, after a few minutes of playing, he will hump her leg, then go over and start nursing on her. She justs lets him do it. I've never seen anything like it. It is cute though.

Boxers are just all around tolerant dogs. Maybe blancla and I need to start a group for boxers that nurse yorkies. LOL:thumbup:

My girlfriend who also breeds yorkies got a new female puppy and she was nursing on one of her old females, "BUNNY' who never had a litter and was very tolerant... the cuteness ended when "dolly" the young puppy "pulled" off one of Bunny's nipples... yeah.... OUCH !!!!! she sucked at it so much it got soft and came off !!!!!! a little bleeding and lots of TLC later, Bunny is Fine and Dolly gave up the habit ... we all thought it was cute... but the outcome was a bit unpleasant ! I had to share after i read your posts !!!

That sounds painful. My son's dog doesn't nurse long enough to do that, just long enough to let her know that he's doing it.

As far as a group goes, that sounds good. I am just thankful that my dog isn't the only one that does this kind of thing.
