4 month old weighs 12 ounces?!
 
I was browsing on the internet and saw this ad for a little boy yorkie who is 4 months old and weighs 12 ounces. Crazy small.

12 oz Yorkie - Wichita Dogs & Puppies For Sale - Kijiji Wichita, Kansas

Check out the ad. The lady says when he grows up he will probably weigh ONE POUND. Give me a break. She is just trying to make a lot of money off that poor little thing.

I hope that the person who gets him is KNOWLEDGEABLE when it comes to tiny puppies and the problems that can come with them. He pulls at my heartstrings though.

That is waaayy small. I agree, hopefully someone with a lot of experience with Yorkies adopt him. Correct me if I am wrong, but I though very small dogs like listed may be prone to many health problems.

That's not even the same dog in the 2 pictures, the head and muzzle are shaped totally different. I wonder if she meant to caption the 2nd one the female?? Anyways, that male is cute-but he reminds me of a sick puppy we had come into the clinic that had a liver shunt and wound up dying. I hope whoever buys him is educated with littler pups.

It only pushes them up to the top on searches. The person who posted this ad will get an impression that many people are looking & are interested. I noticed there's no price for this tiny guy...she might ask for a ridiculous price. I learned this from megansmomma. Here's the pic instead.
I hate pics of puppies on a scale...they're not a piece of meat.

She has 2 pups for sale. One male (picture) & one female. oops...hope this doesn't count as stealing pic!

Poor little guy looks so sad :( He is so tiny. I would be a nervous wreck with him.

I would be extremely concerned about helath problems in this little one> :eek: He is very fragile. I believe they were bred on purpose for tinines . I do not agree , on this "fad " :thumbdown

No apologies needed!;) I didn't know either (& I'm sure alot of other people). There was another thread (Kijiji ad ~ hate these) that got alot of hits from being posted on YT. That lady had the nerve to up the price of her Yorkie cuz it was on top of the searches & alot of people (fm YT) were inquiring about her. Anyhow, megansmomma alerted us that's what was happening & warned not to link these ads & not to buy from backyard breeders.:thumbup:

I agree in hoping the buyer is very knowlegable and has him checked by a vet asap. But I have to admit, I would love to have him. I think he just needs groomed a little and he would be the cutest little guy! I'd love to protect him and spoil him! I wouldn't buy a dog from a kijiji ad though.

Oh.... We are headed back to Wichita in 2 weeks. I wish I could get them both from her, just so they might have a chance. Poor little things.... :(

Maybe she will still have them for sale in 2 weeks and will come down on her prices? I see, by checking her other ads by the link at the bottom of the page, that she is "selling out" of a number of breeds. I would say HUGE PUPPY MILL just from the amount of breeds she has and she says she's getting out of breeding dogs.

As you probably know, the economy here in Wichita is TERRIBLE with all the laid off aircraft workers. I think the layoffs here have topped 10,000 now. So many people out of work. I would guess there isn't a huge market for $1200 puppies in this area.

I would love for a YT person to come get them and give them a chance!!! Someone who knows and loves the breed and isn't just looking to breed them.

She has the price at the top of the page. It says 12 ounce Yorkie 1200.00. I saw one similar that was for 10.000 on another website. I know one thing, I wouldn't want him. He is too small to even be let down. He would need to be carried to prevent someone from not seeing him at being only one pound.

Have you guys ever wondered about these BYB that may be advertising a younger puppy just to sell it claiming that it only weighs one pound when actually after growing up, it will weigh more? I think that goes on quite a bit. For example, this puppy may be only be 6 or 8 weeks old but she is advertising it to be 16 weeks.

I have never in my life saw a grown dog to weigh one pound. Have any of you?

Oh you are totally right. It happens all the time. I don't know how many of my customers who were undereducated that said to me "well she was supposed to be a teacup". Oh I just cringe.

My breeder on the other hand, was a bit scatterbrained. She said Uni was 8 wks when we first looked at her, but once I seen her paperwork she was actually 12. Which was great, I got to get her right away.

But , uh noooo, I have never seen a dog less than 1 pound. Sad really. Hope he is going to be ok.
