Pet Insurance We have this available where I work as an option. In getting a new yorkie pup soon. I wondered if this is something good to have? What are your opinions? |
It could be a good idea to get for sure. I remember when Nana had some issues I had asked my vet about pet insurance and he told me that if they get diagnosed with any sort or problem you cannot get pet insurance. So it may be worth it to you just in case. |
My youngest Barkley has pet insurance. Insurance is one of those things that you hate to have to pay for but it is great when you need it. Our oldest Gizmo had to have a knee replacement 2 years ago at at the cost of $2000. I wished I had gotten it for him. Your vet is right, once they are diagnosed it is too late and the younger you start it the cheaper it is. I will probably keep it for Barkley, just in case. |
I have it on all 3 of mine. I have used it a lot on one of mine and I like the peace of mind knowing they are covered if a big expense comes up. |
Honestly, it's really irritating filling these guys pockets every month. But if anything serious happens to your new baby, you won't think twice about going to the vet and getting the best treatment. You think it won't happen to you (I did), but then if it does you thank your lucky stars. For me, it's always going to be insurance. |
Medical bills whether for us or our Yorkie could financially ruin us since we are both retired from "service" professions. I cannot imagine having to make a decision for the treatment of our pet based on whether or not we could afford the treatment. Any type of insurance is something you hope you never have to use...whether it be house, auto, or medical. However, as long as I can afford a premium it is worth the bill to have the peace of knowing we have it. My husband was 53 and I was 50 when our house burned while we were at work. When we left for work that morning, we never dreamed that by late afternoon all we would own were our cars and the clothes on our backs. Had we not had insurance, I cannot imagine what our lives would have become. It was traumatic enough with coverage. From that perspective (since we all look at life based on our life's experiences), I cannot imagine having the opportunity to have any type of insurance and not taking it. It is an expense in our lives that we will manage to cover just like we do property taxes and such. After our experience, it is not an option for house, cars, us, or our Yorkie. |
