HELP Please... My 2 year old yorkie just swallowed some dental floss...should I be worried or will it just pass through in a day or so? Has this happened to any of you? |
I would call the emergency vet office and see if they can give you advise over the phone ..... I would be concerned if the dental floss is to long it could get caught..they might advise you to have him eat plenty of bread. Good Luck. |
if its long i dont think he will be able to pass it all at once or it will get tangled call an 24 hour vet and ask. good luck! |
it could go either way. Sometimes it can be passed but sometimes it can get tangled in the intestines and cause a blockage. I'd keep a very very close eye on his eating habits over the next few days. Plus make note of bowel movements and vomiting. A dog with a intestinal blockage will want to eat at first and act like things are normal, however he will not be able to poop and will start vomiting because the food will not pass the blockage. you could call the emergency vet but they will not be able to do anything about it right now. its kind of a wait and see situation. floss will not show up on an x-ray so they won't be able to see if its caught up on anything. |
Thank you...I did call the 24 hour vet hospital and they said to watch him and see if it passes. They said if he starts vomiting or doesn't go poop to bring him in to get checked. Now I get to worry about this all night...I am what you call a worry wart! LOL |
