I am a breeder and I have a 13 year old boy and 7 year old little girl. I have been breeding for about 4 years. They don't know life with out dogs and puppies. I have sold to people with kids, but I do talk to them 1st, and tell them that they know their kids better than anyone. I will say I have not every sold a very tiny one to some one with kids, but most of my Yorkies will end up around 5-7 lbs. so it is not like have a 2 lbs yorkie with kids. |
I'm not a huge fan of the tiny Yorkies just because of the simple fact that they are so little. They are just as cute as the large Yorkies but they just aren't the size for me :) Yep, I would have a fear of them getting lost in my house. LOL! We would like the Yorkie to be at least 4 lbs. but larger is better for us. We just need to make sure it is pure breed because of my husbands allergies and asthma. Yorkies seem to be the only breed that he can be around without having some type of allergic reaction. He hasn't tried a poodle household but than again he can't stand poodles so even if he faired well allergy wise, he wouldn't buy one. He loves the YORKIES :) |
My yorkie loves children the best. She adores them . We had an interesting incounter with a toddler. The little girl was scared of Suzi at first. But, Then to my absolute amazement, Suzi rolled over onto her back and the child was delighted by this. I could not belive how my yorkie responded to this little child :) The little girl petted Suzi's tummy very sofly as I supervised, and was stunned by my yorkie's behavior. the child was happy , my yorkie was happy, and I was thrilled ! I have a high functioning teenaged autistic son. I brought home Suzi at 9 weeks old, she weighed 3Lbs .There have been no problems . My sone has also cognitive delays> We also recently brought home a tiny , Shih Tzu who was, at the time 2.9 Lbs at 7 weeks . She is now 10 weeks old, and all is well. My Suzi is 16months old now, and with one dog a little puppy, things are busy around here ;) Just teach your children how to hold the puppy the right way, and set down the rules. Make certain they all follow the rules and all share the responsibiltes taking care of the new puppy. |
