What age should you send your pup to the groomer? Lulu is 17 weeks and looking a little scruffy. We have trimmed her ears and tummy over the past few weeks but I think it is time she goes to a professional. Of course she has all her shots.. What at age did you send your pup to the groomer for the first time? |
Jackson was around 4 1/2 months. |
As soon as it's had it's first two sets of shots, msot groomers will take it. I cannot stress enough how important it is to start them ASAP. As soon as they can, start taking them. It makes the biggest difference. We tell every client that gets a new puppy, start the grooming process as soon as possible including at home care. They have to have it done all of their life, so they need to learn as soon as possible that it's not a bad thing, it doesn't hurt them, and it makes it a lot easier on the dog and the groomer to work them into a regular grooming schedule. |
Well, Uni is my first dog, and after reading all I have on groomers/grooming I have decided to groom her myself 100%. Most ppl I have encountered have said she is the most cutest well groomed yorkie they have seen. Just read enough and you can do it yourself. If you can style your own hair, you can style your yorkie. No one but yourself will know what is best your your baby. Or, if you can't style your own hair, why pay someone to mess up your yorkies hair when you can do it yourself for free???:D |
i think you should get the baby to the groomer as soon as he gets his first two shots. denzel had his first grooming appointment at 12wks and he loves and i mean loves going to the groomer but before he was going to the groomer i introduced him to taking tiny little baths once a week and i did that when he was 10wks old. so i think the earliest the better although denzel hates when i brush his teeth and the groomer said he doing a lot better but once again the early the better hope that helped good luck:D |
usually between 3 and 4 months old. |
Roxy is 12 weeks and she has a grooming appt on Tuesday. She looks like a little ragamuffin! I had to trim her paws the other day because she was sliding on the floor and biting at them. Her hair is in her eyes badly too. My groomer said as long as she has had 2 sets of shots than she is ok to come. :) HTH |
