I'm not sure about garlic. It might be good for something but I'd be afraid of raw upsetting their tummies. Brewers yeast sprinkled on their food is supposed to help with fleas. You can get that at the pet store too. It probably has dosage amounts on the bottle. |
I found this link. It has good information you might want to read. It says that raw garlic and onions are toxic to dogs. I'm sure small amounts by accident won't kill them. But feeding it to them daily could cause some problems. Hope this helps! Welcome to Healthypet.com! |
I would not do it as garlic, along with onions, is listed on just about every list of poisonous things for dogs, as this list: Welcome to Healthypet.com! which lists them as blood toxins. I don't know if that is just in raw form or both raw or cooked. I also don't know how much they have to get before it is toxic. But since I can find a dozen or more sites within minutes that tell me it is toxic, I am not feeding my crew any garlic. If a person wants to stay natural to keep the fleas away, try Minksheen shampoo. LOL! That is funny -- after I hit the post I saw Roxies mom listed the same link! Must be high on the google list! Great minds........ |

I noticed Marijuana on that list I just had an hilarious mental picture of Alfie sitting up in the chair tooting on a spliff stoned out of his skull I hasten to add that I am not a drug user, just a couple of beers once or twice a week |
i have given my dogs garlic supliments for that purpose. My one dog had skin problems and she could not use the topical stuff for a long time. I live in south florida so flea prevention is a must! I never found a single flea on her though, so i guess it worked. i think that it is the raw garlic that is toxic. |
