Luxating Patellas???Need advice Took my puppy to the vet today and found out she had Bilateral Luxating Patellas, grade 1. Do any of you have a dog with this, for I am not sure what this really means? Should I contact the breeder and what?!?! Really need advice on this one!! |
You might want to post this in the sick section. You can also do a search of YT for threads dealing with LP. My rescue Pommie just had bilateral LP surgery about 15 wks. ago. I was very strict with him and he is doing great. He had a grade 3. Grade 1 is not bad enough to do surgery, IMO. I would be very careful with him, though, as not to aggravate his knees. Some furbabies actually do get by without surgery. Put up ramps everywhere.....off of beds and couches. I use the foam wedges for the couches and bought a ramp for the bed. Don't let him jump out of your arms, out of vehicles, etc. This is all JMHO, though. As for contacting or returning him to his breeder......................hopefully someone will be willing to give an opinion on that one. ~Joanne~ |
