Steps or Ramp?? With Roxy's recent accident I am looking into getting her either a bed ramp or bed steps. She is quite small and I dont think she would be able to climb the steps but I wanted to know everyone elses opinion. The doll baby wants to sleep with me but she it like a lion and will jump without warning. I don't want her getting hurt again. Any advice?? |
Andromeda is 4.4lbs. and Bra'Tac is 4.7lbs. I have three sets of stairs at my house. One for each bed and one for the couch. They use them all the time, and I have always encouraged them to use them and not jump. The ones I have are carpeted and easy for them to use. Bought them at petsmart for around $45. When my older one got sick, it was extremely helpful. Definitely would suggest that you get them especially since your little one is not afraid to jump. |
I bought the plastic steps at petsmart and they are not tall enough for the bed; so I have a milk crate as the final step. My friend made me a ramp from a plank of wood and she stapled a striip of vinal thick material to it and that goes under the couch cusion to secure it. Both work great. At first Ted was hesitant to use them, but now he prefers steps or ramp to jumping off bed or couch. |
We have a ramp for our bed. My BF made it so it is exactly the size we needed. It was easy to make. The ramp runs the legnth of the foot of our bed and the dogs use it 100 times a day. My little Addison slides down on her belly, it must feel so good to her! Steps took up too much room, the ramp is about 6 inches wide and how ever long a queen bed is. we carpeted the top so it would be easy for them to have traction and easy to clean! |
I have steps for my couch and ramps for my beds. I got mine at About Our Yorkie and All Breed Pet Supply Store They are a little pricey, but very well made and shipping is free. |
I use the scamp ramps for the beds and trained them to only use them to get up and down. I also have carpeted stairs that my husband made for them to use and they are nice and wide so they can use them to lay on as well. |
We built steps out of scrap upholstery foam (so they are soft on the joints) glued exactly the height and width we wanted for each location. We then covered them with scraps of upholstery fabric which match each room they are in. No mashed toes from knocking into the dog steps and even if he slips, its soft. My dad's 2.2 pounder loved the steps, my 5 pounder figured them out in 3 seconds flat....and they took no tools other than a glue gun to assemble. Kate |
I have steps for them all over the house but I really want to change to a ramp for them to get up on my bed. As Alexander gets older those taller steps are getting much harder for him to manage with his arthritis. I think a ramp would be so much easier for him to manuever. |
