Help Travel with Pregnante Yorkie leave fri
 
PLease help! My Yorkie is expecting around July 22-23. She has never been away from me and I have to drive 17 hrs to Texas on Friday. Have a friend who is a breeder that can keep her for me. Have one vet that say's no way don't take her and another who say's she will be ok. We are only staying a week and on the drive down we plan on staying at a hotel to break the drive up. This is my first breeding ever and my Yorkies too. Say this again she is very attached and doesn't want to be away from me. Is it safe to take her? Feel like it would be more stress to leave her behind with strange house, people, dogs, & no cuddling. Help

You probably thought of that right?
!7 hours is a long drive although you are having a stop but what if she was to go into labour? I know nothing about dog pregnancy but I gave birth 2 weeks early lol

No way to cancel my trip. If I could right now I would for sure. Yes I was being a dumb dumb by not thinking this whole breeding thing though but, it is a done deal so I just have to follow though. I have been researching and getting ready the best way I can except this part. If I leave her behind she is going to be stressed and if I take her she is going to be stressed too. I am thinking she will be more stressed being left behind. Oh what to do??? I have to take her to my breeder friend tonight if I am to leave her behind. Mine you this girl breeds dogs for a living but, in her mind...People should not breed Pets because they don't make good moms. She will be fine I know but, I can't help but, worry....we have never been apart! :confused:

You sound like a good mummy to me. Its a difficult decision but trust your instincts and keep us posted how everything goes.

Thank you Yorkie Mad...I try to be the best Mom I can to all of my animals. My Yorkie is my heart and the child I never had so I am crazy about her. Do you live in England? Have been told that ya'll (Yes Southern talk) have some very nice Yorkshires over there. My family tree is English with the last name of Taylor & Staton. Thanks again

When is her due date. If you still have aways to wait, it's ok. You're her rock, and if you're not there, she'll be stressed and could possibly abort the pups.Just make sure she's comfy, plenty of potty breaks, plenty of fluids.

What type of car are you driving in?

OK her due date is 21st-23rd...I will be driving a Volkswagon Passat. What do you think --- Take her with me??

I agree.. I have driven to Florida with a pregnant yorkie.. not on her last few days by anymeans.. but if you always take her needs into this she should be just fine..
I think stress of leaving her with some one else could be harder on her then driving with you.. that is if she is use to going in the car anyway and does not stress over it.. I would take her..

Yep her due date is far enough away! Can you carry an x-pen, that you can line the bottom with pee-pads for her to go potty on ? I'd be very careful as to not allow her to touch public grounds. You're just going to have to take precautions with her. Phone ahead for a trustworth vet, just in case. Where in Texas

best of luck to you ! I think your pregnant yorkie will be a lot more happier going with you then staying at a strangers home. Especially that she is so attatched to you. :thumbup:

Thank you to all. I will be leaving Savannah, GA going to Houston Texas. We plan on stopping and staying the night some where along the way.
