who used vinegar & water there was someone that posted saying they shampoo their carpets with water and vinegar. i was wondering how you mix it, half & half?? we have a baby gate up in the hallway and nala likes to do her business in the hallway (guess it's better than my room or my sisters room??) and she doesn't always make it on her pads. i was wondering if i shampooed the carpets with water and vinegar first then shampooed it with regular carpet cleaner would it still work or should i just use the vinegar and water. the reason i want to do both is b/c i am very weird when it comes to smells and the thought of our house smelling like vinegar makes me gag, but i will do it if that's what it takes. i tried mixing water and vinegar in a spray bottle but that doesn't seem to work. when nala pees 95% of the time it's on the pad but when she poops 90% of the time its on the floor right in front of my sisters door(she's not too happy when nala leaves her surprises) are their any other suggestions?? i live in a small town so alot of the products most of you can find i can't, the nearest petco is 2 hours away  |
I do that all the time...i don;t think it matters ...you can even wash her blankets and just add 1 cup of white vinegar by load (in the washing machine). I mix about 3 or 4 parts of water for 1 of vinegar... I believe somebody else also said it is good to prevent fleas?? |
does the vinegar really "kill the smell" so that they can tell that they have used the bathroom there before? i don't plan on keeping nala "locked" behind the gate forever, just until she knows when to leave the other 2 dogs alone. when she is able to run freely she will be able to let me know when she needs out. do you know of any other "household" items that will work? |
white vinegar eliminates odor...now i donnou if our dogs cannot smell (even if it is just a little bit) where the "dirty work" was done before. They have verrrrryyyy good smelling sense so i cannot guarantee that they won;t. It works for my dog...but to make sure it is "smelless" for Nala, i would get the odor eliminator made specially for animals...they have some enzymes that is specially for killing their odors. |
do you know of a certain kind? like i said i'm from a small town so alot of things everyone else can find locally i can't. i have walmart (which doesn't have much) and the pet shop and i'm not sure if they even have anything. |
There's a product on QVC that I ordered, it's called X-O plus, from Don Aslett. And it's a order neutralizer and cleaner. I really does work pretty well and I use it as a spot cleaner and I also use it in my carpet cleaner. If there's a boo-boo, then I use my little carpet cleaner to get up the urine and then I finish it off with spraying some more cleaner on it...Theresa & The Boys |
Hi, i use vinegar and water on little accidents, but the best thing to use so the dogs cant smell where they have done there business before is biological washing powder. I know this works because molly has had several accidents, but never in the same place! so i guarantee it works. The smell of vinegar doesnt linger for too long, but it does absorb the toilet smell as we smell it. White vinegar also makes a great fabric conditioner, as it makes clothes nice and soft and gets rid of odours! I also use vinegar and water for polishing my furniture, cleaning windows and mirrors, in fact i cant remember the last time i bought any cleaning stuff, i just clean everything with vinegar and water :D Tina xx |
