Hello everyone I am a new owner of a 8 wk old female (Chloe), she is just at 2 lbs... so cute....they registered ckc, the seller said because it was cheaper, my question is can I register akc if she is already registered ckc? |
Hi! :wavey: :welcome4: Congrats on your new baby!! Would love to see pictures of her. The only way to be eligible for AKC registration is for both parents to already be registered with AKC. Do you know if the parents are AKC registered? |
Hi and :welcome4:. Congratulations on the new baby! |

Hello and Welcome to YorkieTalk! :) |
yes they are....tks |
welcome to YT. :) sorry i don't know about the registration question. |
Classy Welcome to the board.....I mayy be wrong in this assessment, but every dog I have ever had was AKC. HOWEVER, due to the fact that I am not a breeder and don't want to do that, I always had them spayed...THEREFORE, other than an ego trip, I never registered mine as I never planned to deal with puppies and breeding. SInce I would never have to deal with a buyer, and once my dog is gone it's gone, I never fooled with that or the expense of it. Now maybe I am off base here, but that is just my take on it. |
Having paperwork never made any yorkie I ever had anymore lovable, cute, and adorable. |

Your Heart Will Be Overjoyed! We have had our Beloved Bella for 3 weeks, now. She adds happiness and humor to our days. Be ready to have your life truly enriched by your new little furbaby. We wonder what we did with our empty time before Bella came to join our family. Congratulations! |
Congrats and welcome to YT! |

Registering CKC is not cheaper. Some breeders choose CKC because there is less regulation. Unless both parents are registered AKC you will not be able to register your lil girl AKC. Your breeder has to have registered the litter with AKC for you to do so. CKC, AKC, etc does not make a reputable breeder.....as long as your puppy is healthy and a good representation of the breed don't worry about it. But, just a lil education for your next yorkie (and there will be a next time, since they're like potato chips you can't have just one) never, never take a new toy dog home prior to 12 weeks of age. |
