I'm sad today The day has come to drop Marley off at the kennel for 6 days. I am so heartbroken. We are going on vacation and were unable to take her with us. I'm going to cry when I drop her off today I just know I am. I am dropping her off with her bed, blankey, a couple toys and maybe a t-shirt that smells like me to comfort her??? Any other suggestions besides the obvious food and treats?? Ugh this is goin to be the longest 6 days of my life :( |
So sorry you have to leave your baby. I would feel the same way you do. Sounds like you have all of her stuff lined up to take with her. Try not to worry and try to have a good vacation. I know it will be a long six days for you. Maybe you can call and check on her and it will make you feel some better. |
she will be fine..........and just think of all the puppy kisses you will get when you go back to pick her up to take her home |
leave some of her favorite puppy treats so she doesn't feel too homesick. |
I know how you feel. We left our dogs for 8 days on the 16th of june. I cried driving them there. I cried driving away. I was a wreck! They were with other small dogs (chi's) but still they weren't in THEIR home with ME. But they had a blast! The airlines wanted $150 per dog per way (YEP thats right $600 for my dogs to ride on the FLOOR!!!!!!) so they stayed with a friend who dog sits. They had fun, but still I missed them terribly. We couldn't drive home from the airport fast enough!!!! The look on their faces was priceless when they saw us!!!:D So have a great vacation. Remember Ceaser says dogs live in the moment. Your baby will be fine and when you return will be happy to give you those wonderful doggie kisses! |
Both my dogs do well at the kennel! My JRT actually seems to LOVE it. As for the yorkie, he didn't seem to mind at all. Don't worry too much and enjoy your trip! |
Thank you all so much , we are laying on the couch now about to take one last nap together until I drop her off at around 5. The kennel closes to the public at 6 and I am waiting until the very last minute. Might I mention the reason I am so nervous is because its not a fancy nice kennel like the ones I've seen before. It's rather homely looking and sad looking when I went to scope the place out. Its the only option I have though. The women there are very nice but I just wish I could have found someone to house-sit and watch over my baby. Wish us luck! |
so sorry you have to leave your baby behind... I would take her favorite things... |

MizMaRLeysMoM86- I hope all goes well. Try to have a good vacation. Can you call and check in on your baby while your gone? That might help put you at ease at least. |
I know how hard it is to leave. I left Nolee last year for vacation, but wasn't too bad, he stayed with my daughter. It is hard everytime a drop him off for boarding no matter how long. She will be fine. I think we take it harder than they do! Try to enjoy your vacation! |
I know it will be hard leaving Marley. I just got back from my first vacation in oer 20 years because I never wanted to leave my dogs. but pushed myself since my DH really wanted to go. They were left at home with my dtr and my nephew to help and they did fine. When we got home tonight they went crazy for 10 minutes and then they went back to their normal life of laying around. I really do think it is harder on us then them. Try and have a good trip. |
