Kelsey lifts her leg up...like it hurts. Every now and then when Kelsey is walking she'll lift her back left leg up like it hurts her. She doesnt moan or cry or anything like that...but it just looks like it bothers her. The weird thing is that it only happens every now and then. I dont think it's broken bones, but I can't figure out what it might be? I'm planning on taking her to the vet soon...but i have a feeling they wont be able to tell me anything differnt from what I already know. Does anybody elses' babies do this...or have an idea of what it might mean? |
Pita does that same thing, I was wondering if it might not be an early sign of luxating patella? she doesn't cry either, just sometimes lifts it up or she might look a little "off" on the back end, it's barely noticable and not always. |
Millie is doing the same thing, but with the left front foot/leg. I did take her to the Vet, who did a physical exam and could find nothing out of place. No swollen joints, muscles, ect. He did not take an x-ray. Says that at her age (4 1/2 months) the spaces between her joints would be large and it would be hard to differenciate between normal and injury. She does not whine, cry, growl, flinch or do any of the things one would do if in pain when the area is touched or manipulated. So he put her on anti-inflamatory for a week and to observe her one more week after that. If she did not improve then he would consider doing more of an extensive work-up. (I really appreciated this conservative approach, because he did not want to incur additional expenses unnecessarily, but I am still baffled and concerned.) She does not seem to have improved since the meds, but it has only been 2 1/2 days. |
Ladylavender- That's interesting. Let me know if anythings happend since then. I would like to get Kelsey looked at soon...Im saving up for that visit which will probablly cost me around $50 or so...and then also to get Kelsey spayed soon. taje- What is: "luxating patella"?? Im scared now! |
Millie has improved, but is not 100% better. We did take her off the meds, as directed, and now we are into the 2nd week of observation, as directed. My vet bill was a little over $50.00. So you calculated it correctly. I think if she does not get at 100% then I will have to go the x-ray route. |
