What are good ways to bond with your puppy? I want her to be stuck to me like glue... and I know you cant really force that but what can I do to encourage her to like me a lot? I hope this doesnt sound dumb... it is just that she likes my bf more than me. And I have heard that it is because she is a girl and girls gravitate toward boys. And I love that she likes him I just want her to like me too..... Any ideas.....:(

If your the soul caregiver such as feeding, watering, playing, loving, walking and giving treats it will happen. Little special things will develp too. Your baby will know you specifically for certain things you do with her.

My girl is crazy about my Husband but also about me so I dont agree that thye girls always gravitate to males. feed her, take her on walks every day, give her special treats and teach her obedience and tricks those are great ways to bond with her

Haha awe I know exactly how you feel wanting to be as close with your baby as possible. This may sounds crazy to some lol but when I got Nana i took her everywhere with me no matter what and during night time I would tuck her in next to me and talk to her till she fell asleep.
During the day I would actually run around on my hands a knees with her and play toys, If she was bad I would place her on her back and hold her down with my face or put her leg in my mouth (Haha I know it sounds crazy) but she actually responded well to it. Every little thing I did Nana came along and now I cant get her to leave me alone! Anyways All this really helped me bond with her and vise versa. I'm sure now she either thinks shes a person or thinks im her dog mommy haha.

Another thing you can do is get a sling carrier and wear it and put her in it while your doing housework etc so she is used to being close to you

I just did everything for my baby...and I took her everywhere with me... lol. Now she thinks she is my baby and will answer me before anyone else....lol.

I read somewhere that if you leave her alone during the day, leave a piece of your clothing so she has something that smells like you. Maybe it will help her remember your smell and be drawn to you. I don't remember the exact rationale but it's worth a try.

I have been sleeping with the blanket we're giving our puppy when we pick him up on Friday so he'll know my smell. I want him to recognize me and love me more than my husband :p I know exactly how you feel.

Hold her bully stick while she chews it LOL. I am the only one Uni will let get close to her and even take her bully away from her.

I took time off work when Bella came home. Bella did EVERYTHING with me including she slept with me from the time she came home, I am her main caregiver, disciplinarian, etc. I cook for her, I train her to do her tricks, I play take walks etc. I think when YOUR the one they pick up on it. Bella did want my bf more during her pregnancy but when it came time to whelp she was in my lap and snuggled in my neck wanting me. I dont think they gravitate towards guys more I think they gravitate towards the person who does the most for them.

I take Ella with me everywhere too. Very seldom is she left with someone else or alone. && I do hold her bully for her lol she is spoiled but it still seems like she prefers my bf and he doesnt do near the things I do for her!!!! I will try the sling idea. Thanks for the ideas keep em comin!

i think dogs tend to bond with the person they are around the most.

i bonded with mily by playing with her, taking her to puppy classes/puppy socials, walking her. basically just doing different things with her. it keeps her from being bored and it keeps her HAPPY! :animal36
