Belly Band Back in May 2005 my ten year old yorkie started wetting the bed. After taking him to the vet and having him checked I was told he had old age bladder incontinence and that he would have to go on hormone tablets to help him. I didn't want this and so surfed the web and found this yorkie website. After posting my concerns about hormone tablets etc alot of kind people suggested I try a belly band and posted links for me to buy one. Having not heard of this before I bought one and my dog soon became use to wearing it at night and my bed stayed dry. I was told that it may encourage him not to relieve himself in the bed and retrain his bladder muscles. Well four months on he's still wearing the belly band but theres been nothing in it for two weeks so it definately works. I am so pleased that I just had to post a quick note to say a big thanks to everyone that advised me of this great invention. I'm very glad I didn't have to resort to the hormone tablets. Lisa :) |
I thought of using the belly bands too for help with Piper's potty training endeavors but he's been doing slightly better lately...but will always keep it in mind. Great to hear that all is well with you and your baby. |
Would belly bands help with potty training? Where do you buy them? Sadie is only 15 weeks old (I know she is only a baby), but sometimes I think she will never get the hang of it. I know she is smart because she knows "Do you want to go outside?", she runs to the door. Now if only she would remember what she is supposed to do out there. I add the do you have to go potty to going outside. I know "Patience"!!!! I keep telling myself that. Sometimes I think maybe we are getting somewhere and then we go back. Just wondered how the belly bands work for housebreaking. Thanks! |
I think they are more designed for the male dogs because those are the only ones I've seen. There are many sites online where you can buy them. If you do a Google search you're sure to find many. I heard about them from members here on YT so if you put the word out there I'm sure someone more experienced with the whole concept can explain it better and also recommend where to get them. I heard that they wrap around the males body and helps with potty training and marking because they go in the pad that's held on by the band. Most dogs hate the uncomfortable feeling so this helps them to hold it and they learn to pee when you take it off and go outside. Hope this helps and good luck!! :) |

Yay, thats awesome news! |
I've posted the same link that was kindly posted for me for anyone wishing to see what they look like and cost etc. If your handy with a sewing machine then they are easy enough to make yourself especially if your dog is tiny. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Male-Dog-House...QQcmdZViewItem :) |
That's great news!! |
