Help My Carn terrier chewed the end of Ruby's Nylabone off. Now he is vomiting and walking odd. Could this be from that? |
Yes, it could be. He needs to go to an emergency vet. |
My husband is on the way to the pet er with Max. I hope they can help him. Ruby just had her spay surgery and now this. Seems like there is always something to worry about. By the way she is doing great. I thought we were on the way to better things. Oh well. |
Poor little Max. Glad you are getting him to the vet. I hope he feels better real soon. |
Please be sure to let us know how Max is. Get better, Max. ~Joanne~ |
Max is back home after a long morning in the ER. They did blood work and took an x-ray but could not tell from the x-ray if there was anything other than food in his stomach. So, they gave him barium and said that if is was food it would absorb the barium but would surround something else like Nylabone. That showed nothing unusual so then they watched it move through the intestines but still nothing unusual. He was dehydrated to they gave him fluids and sent him home with medicine to help coat his stomach. He is on chicken and rice for the next 2 days. They were almost certain it was the Nylabone but thankfully it must have all moved through his system. It sure did a number on his digestive system though. So, Max is home feeling kind of tired and he has a swollen neck from the iv fluids. Thankfully it turned out better than I thought. I will never have another Nylabone in this house again. A $1.99 chew bone ended up almost killing my Max and it cost us a $608 ER bill. I can't believe they are on the market when they can cause such harm to our babies. |
I am so happy Max is back home and most importantly he is ok. Yep, I gave up nylabones too. Now we chew bully sticks and I take them away when they get too short. Laya loves them and I feel a lot safer giving them to her. Hope Max feels back to his old self real soon. Hugs to Max. :) |
Thank god Max is ok. |
Wow! I'm so glad that Max is OK and that you shared this story. Toby has 3 new nyla bones that thankfully he's shown little interest in. They will disappear soon! |
I am so happy that everything is turning out ok. I bought one of those bones, and then read that back where it says that they are not supposed to eat it! I then threw it out immediately. I hope Max is back to normal soon. Sending well wishes ........ |
