OMG i did not that you should tip the groomer, she charges me $60 but im happy with her job, never cross my mind that i have to tip her,,,,ahhh, I'm a bartender and i do business in NJ and NY and belive me i do apreciate tips, so i feel bad now......i do tip mu styler but i did not know about groomers....thanks |
2 Attachment(s) well i have 2 different answers here.........my old groomer was a shop and she charged me $35 per grooming. I would always give a $10 per dog tip. Then I started bringing Truman and the last time she up charged me because he was difficult to groom. I paid the $50 to have my FOSTER groomed by her plus a $10 tip. When you are a foster home grooming and food are your responsibility and she knew this. Plus she is also a Yorkie breeder and I believe breeders should give back to their community as we are all working for a common good. There are a lot of groomers that groom rescues at a reduced rate because of this but she felt the need to up charge. He is not mean, just very nervous as he was never groomed in the past and does not see well. :( What she didn't realize is I would have upped her tip if she hadn't up charged me $15 on the grooming. I was so mad that she did this I found a new groomer that does it out of her home and she only charges me $20 per pup, didn't up charge for Truman AND said that the tip was not necessary! :) I did insist she take a $10 tip for Truman's grooming since I know he can be a handful. She will have my business and referrals forever. I get them all groomer once every 6 to 8 weeks so with that in mind groomer #1 is out a bundle and groomer #2 has now added 4 new regular clients to her schedule :) Wow! I just did the math and I am saving almost half! Old~$1015 New~$560 plus Truman's tip ;) Just look how cute Truman looked after his visit this week :D |
I am a pet groomer for Petsmart. It is always nice when we get a tip because that is part of where we make our money. We do not get paid hourly so we only get paid when we have dogs. It is always nice to get a tip but most groomers dont get mad if they dont. At my store people always tip about $5. Some people may tip more if they have a request groomer or if they have a difficult dog. |
Most definitely. I always tip. Don't we all tip when there's service involved? |
I tip 20%. I am very happy with Thor's groomer. They quite expensive, but worth it, and they take him on short notice. |
Oh of course we tip. For Baxter our groomer charges 35. And since Zeke is bigger and with more hair, he gets charged 40. She gets a 20% tip for each boy. I figure she not only baths them, but cuts hair, nails, plucks ears and does the anal glands. All things I don't want to have to do. Baxter only goes a few times a year, but Zeke's hair grows so fast, he is there about every 8-12 weeks, depending on the weather. Baxter then just goes for nail trimming etc. |

yeah I tip. My groomer is awesome, she comes and gets my dogs and brings them home. She charges 20 to 25 depending on what I want done and I tip anywhere between 5 and 8. |
I always tip the groomer. |
I didn't tip Poppy's groomers. |
I only use the same groomer for my Suzi, I tip Ryan anywhere between $5 and $10 each time . now that I have a Shih Tzu she will also be going to Ryan when old enough and has had all her vaccines. :) |
I've always seem grooming in the way that I do normal hair cutting (except its a lot more difficult!) 20% is my minimum, as long as its been a good job. If its sub-par I generally leave a lot less, usually just a few dollars to nothing at all if its nothing like I asked. If they did a good job I try to always leave as much as I can, since I have always been one to believe that if you treat them well they will treat you well back. Its served me pretty well. Grooming is a tough job, so I always like to reward the groomers who really make the effort to come out with a good product. |
Hmmm, I actually love Winston's groomer, but I don't tip her...she does get a very nice bonus from me every year for Christmas, equivalent to a years worth of tips plus. She only charges $15.00 each time and my tip wouldn't amount to much at the time...but over a year...it makes a very nice, timely gift. At least I think so. |
Well....it depends....My groomer owns the shoppe, so when she does my 3, no I dont tip her as all the money goes to her anyway, but, If she has one of her students do one of my dogs, then yes they get a 10-20% tip. My own hairdresser owns the shoppe as well so I only tip the shampoo girl unless hes doin an entires days work on me!!! lol Then Ill flip him something extra but only if he buys lunch!!! lol :p |
