Puppy Coats??? Want the long coat as an adult... Hello everyone! I just got my Yorkie pup 2 weeks ago and she is the best! I am going to grow her hair out and I just wanted to know some tricks of the trade from ppl who are more experienced than I. This is my 1st yorkie so I need to know the best shampoos, conditioners, etc. What type of brush should I use? How often should I wash her? And should I be brushing her in a certain pattern? I have a lot more questions but I'll just leave it at that for now? Thanks in advance for your help... |

Shampoo Well, The best shampoo in my opinion is the "PETSILK" you can order it online at petedge.com Most importantly for now get her used to be brushed, groomed, handled... any type of brush for now and combs will be fine for now... As she grows... and hair grows you will learn... Start with these basics and you can be sure it is not that hard... She can have a bath every other week for now... Oh.... Congrats on your new baby girl !!!!!!! :) ;) :D :p |

When Tia got to about 8 mths I layered her coat through so as to let her new growth come through, not too short as its not always warm here in the uk.. Now she has her pretty colours showing.:animal-pa |

Congratulations! My 3 are all in long coats and I started from day one to get them use to being brushed and touch their feet so that you can clip their nails later on. I love the Chris Christianson pin brush and wood bristle brush. Also there metal butter comb. Make sure yiu keep it up so the mats won't get hard to get out and then they hate to be groomed. I like Pet Silk and Minksheen shampoo. |

Go into the website for the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America where they have complete instructions on grooming and coat care. The website is www.ytca.org. They also have some great photos.:aimeeyork:aimeeyork:aimeeyork |
