Pesky Puppy I spend a great deal of time at my boyfriends house and his parents have a poodle mix. She is a great dog but she cant staaaand Ella. And I cant say I dont blame her. She is an old lady and Ella wants to play and growl and bite her tail and just generally be in her space. Jojo (the poodle) shows her teeth.... or growls and none of it helps so she snaps at her. She never attacks Ella just snaps and Ella yelps for a nanosecond and then she's back at it- jumping on her and pawing her and chewing on her... It drives everyone crazy! Jojo used to be safe on the couches from my little monster but now she can get up there so I am constantly havin to separate them and Ella acts like I am torturing her when I dont let her go by Jojo. All she wants to do is play with Jojo when we are over there. When the heck will she "get it" that Jojo wants to be left alone!!!!!!!!!! I mean is she going to really have to hurt or what is it going to take for her to chill out? (not that I would let that happen or anything) |

I have a ten year old cat and my yorkie wants to play with her constantly. The cat wants no part of her (even after 7 months) and growls and hisses at her while slapping her in the face (front claws removed, but she has sharp rear ones). Slowly they are getting along much better, but Zena has too much energy for Jazzmin and is much more agile and quicker. I had hoped they would be best pals by now, but it has not happened yet. They both sleep with us with no problems. I suppose puppies have too much love and energy to give for older pets in the same household to tolerate. Sigh! Jazzmin the cat has not bitten my Zena or clawed her so far, and I'm praying it never happens. Zena needs to chill and Jazz needs to lighten up, but that is so hard to do because Z girl just "loves Jazz to death." I guess that is why Jazz has not hurt her at all; just slaps her upside the head while Z girl keeps coming back for more. I should record a video of it and send it in to that video TV show. I figure in a couple more months they will be best friends for life as Zena gets wiser and Jazzmin gets, well she is a cat so she will not change. LOL! ~CD |
My cousins yorkie and my dog used to not get along AT ALL! The same thing that is happening to you happened to us. Eventually she just got the picture one week; dont really know what happened there. But all of a sudden they were like best friends! It was the weirdest thing. I would say just give it time. :) |
