Innova Puppy VS mERRICK GRAMMY POT PIE So for any of you that have switched to Merrick have you noticed your dogs poop has gotten significantly larger and more frequent?? Maximus was on Innova Puppy and has normally 2 poops of about a large tootsie roll consistency. He goes in the morning and at night. I started integrating his merrick into the iNnova and he now poops 4 times a day..and LARGE LARGE amounts...like that of a cow (imagine 3 LARGE scoops of ice cream) each time..plus it is now light brown and soft...I am not sure if maybe this food is too rich for him..or if it is just the process of switching..the problem is he REALLY likes the food and now I think I am going to have to find another..any advice??? I only bought a 5 lb bag just in case...and it looks really great but if he doesn't get better soon I think I will be switching to Innova regular or Natural Balance kibble |
Well I'm not switching to it my house is not big enough for all that poop would have build her a stable. :lol tears |
Sounds like the Merrik has more bulk/fiber and makes passing it easier - I would think that would be a good thing?? Just a thought |

How long has Maximus been on his new diet? Maybe his tummy is just trying to get used to the new ingredients?? Hope you have a lot of puppy pads on hand or ready to take him outside often, LOL. He sounds very very busy lately! :D |
I Do know that Innova is really highly digestable grain, that is why the stool is i guess compact and not so much? (although mine poop about 3-4 a day).. And I guess the other reason why you are able to see the grain with the Merrick is because the grain isnt as digestable as the Innova. If you'd like to do your own research, my friend is doing a dogfood project and has done tons of research on dog food, and she recommends Innova EVO. www.mordanna.com/dogfood or you could always go on Innova's website and get a hold of them for any questions you might have. www.naturapet.com I hope that helps! |
