How long do you keep them in a belly band? I think I'm going to have to start putting a belly band on one of my boys. :p My question is, once you put one on, how long do you leave it before changing to a fresh one? I work away from home during the day and I'm concerned that he might get chapped or get a rash if I don't change it right away after he pees. Do the pads in the band keep the moisture away well enough for him to wear a band while I'm at work? I'd also appreciate any recommendations on where to get cute, good belly bands. Thanks!! |
If you use a poise pad you can leave it on several hours but I would never leave one on for an 8 hour day. Yes, they will get a rash and get sore if the moisture is held against them for an extended period. The longest I've ever left one on is 6 hours. I am home during the day and only use a 1/2 poise pad which I check every 2-3 hours and change as soon as it is wet. |
You cut panty liners into strips and place those inside the belly bands to catch the mositure. Some dogs won't even go with a belly band on...some do. And yes they can get chapped from having something damp against their tummies all day. Not to mention belly bands really mess up their coats. If you have a marker or pee-er...I'd sooner place him in a confined area like an x pen while at work. |
Well, pooh! That's what I was afraid of. Thanks so much for the quick replies!! |
Yeah I have to agree that 8 hours is def too long! But it really all depends on how much they are peeing. |
