Some q's about a few things Ok its been awhile sense I have been on and I have a few questions. Recently we switched vets because the one we where at was so crowded and I didnt feel I was getting enough time with the vet like it was rush rush rush. Well the new vet is from another vet office my mom used to take her dogs too and has opened her own office. Callie two weeks ago broke out with little bumps on her back that itched her and were flakey so we decided to try the new vet and wow its so clean and everyone who worked there so so nice and wonderful to Callie it turns out she has allergies and had a skin infection so they gave her antibiotics in a shot and gave me some allergy meds to give her when she was scratching and two come back in two weeks to recheck it and I also asked about her back legs because I had felt them like pop out and she checked them and she has luxating patella grade 3 on one and grade 2 on the other so she gave me synovi G3 for that also a sample of a shampoo hylite to try. Well we went back today for her recheck and skins looks great and I bought the shampoo also they said her ears looked read and I bought an ear cleaner and they showed me how to use it which made them even greater in my eyes but then they told me about Oravet for teeth care because I told them I brushed her teeth and they said they looked great but I told them I needed to think about the Oravet so they gave me info about it so now I am looking to my yorkie people to help me out and let me know if they have used the Oravet or heard anything about and any of the other things I'm having to give/use on my Callie baby also any tips on the luxating Patella would be nice. Also I look at stairs to get her for my bed from gwlittle but they were over $100 dollars, I wanted the soft ones do to my clumsiness and not wanting any broken toes and I wanted pink so they would kinda match my room sense they are gonna be there for a long time. So if anyone has info on stair let me know to please. By the way for any of yall who dont know me and Callie, she just turned 2 in May :D Thanks everyone! |
Sorry I can't help with your questions but I just wanted to say Happy Belated Birthday:cake: to Callie!!:D |
I forgot to add Callie also has mild collapsing trechea to add to the list but we have known about that for a year and just try to calm her down when she gets too excited and it starts acting up I deal with it a lot better then other people who hear her do it do like my mom she freaks out saying omg help her and I tell her that her getting upsets not going to help Callie calm down and I will rub Cals back and in a soft soothing voice tell her to calm down and stuff. Thats all I really can do right? Dont get me wrong it took a while for me to get used to it enough not to freak out when she did it and I still worry but it wont help her if she senses that I'm tense. And thank you for the happy bday Callie also thanks you :D |
Please I need some input |
We use OraVet but the first application has to be done under anesthesia when the teeth can be dried off I think. I can't tell you if it really works because I started brushing Ellie's teeth at the same time as starting the OraVet, however, I will not stop using it because Ellie is doing so well. She has stage 3-4 periodontal disease and her teeth are great now. Some people may say don't use it and your vet just wants money but really, that may not be the case. It is very safe and worth a try in my opinion. The only thing is, you are instructed to use 1 container per week. Since Yorkies have such small mouths, don't let anyone talk you into that one. :) You can get by with 1/2 container. ;) I have even thought about splitting them into 1/3 but don't want to reduce the amount too much, so we will see. Synovi G3 is fine. If you aren't happy with it, a lot of us use Cosequin. |
