Extra nipple?
 
My DH was giving Marley a good massage last night and found what appears to be an extra nipple. It's on her side. I looked at it really good and it isn't causing her any pain, isn't filled with anything, and isn't swollen or red. It really just looks like an extra nipple on her side, its offset from the rest of the perfectly placed nipples LoL anyone else ever seen this?

Are you sure it's a nipple or a hernia.

It looks just like a nipple, same size, no pain or anything when I touch it. She doesn't even pay us any mind when we looked at it. I would think a hernia would cause her pain of some sort. And she just got looked over by a vet less than a week ago and he said she was fine.

Hernias don't always cause pain. Maybe you should have a vet check it out. It could also be a cyst.

Nope, looked at it really really good, didn't pick hard at it, but did pick at it a little.. its really does resemble a little nipple, just like the rest of them.. only offset from the rest of them. I just never noticed it before.

I'll keep an eye on it, if it gets any bigger then I will take her to the vet again. I just got done taking her to the vet and he did blood work and all sorts of other stuff. The whole she-bang. But thank you for the advice.

Having an extra nipple is not all that uncommon. Google "dog extra nipple" and you will get all sorts of entries where people are talking about the same as your post. It is nothing to worry about.

Happens to people too -- ask Mark Wahlberg!

Hahah I was going to put that my furbaby was related to Mark Wahlberg but I didn't know if i was just a weirdo for knowing that he had a 3rd one or if it was common knowledge LoL thank you! You made me feel better!

Maybe we are both a little weird for knowing that about Mark Wahlberg! LOL! Marky Mark is better known for his underwear!

I think this is perfectly normal :) not normal as in, every dog has it, but normal as in nothing to worry about. LOL. My dad has a border collie mix and she has an odd number of nipples, and one of them is kinda off to the side as well, and none of them line up evenly. It's weird, but nothing harmful.

Could you imagine if people just had random nipples like dogs :eek: Kind weird! I knew it wasn't something to worry about but I didn't know it was THAT common after I googled it! :eyebrow2:

Lol, me and my husband were just talking about it today, after inspecting Trezzi's nipples. Hubby reminded me of the movie, Mallrats, and the scene w/ the 3-nippled psychic.
