Lizard!!!!!!!!!!!!?????? omg i was letting maisy run aroudn the house while i made lunch and then she was walking around with a dead lizard hanging out of her mouth!! since shes not to good about "giving" yet we tried to lure her by a doggie cookie..by the time she became interested in the cookie..lets just say..the lizard was gone..ya she ate it... well i was guessing from what i read in the past she would throw up so i put her in a room with tile floor so it would be easier to clean..well ya she threw up the cookie but no lizard..i am scared she will get sick!! what should i do?? i gave her water..is that bad or good??!! |
I dont have an answer for you because we dont have lizards around here. I have heard some toads are poisonous but I dont know if its the same for lizards. You could call the poison control center or an emergency vet. I would keep an eye on her. |
thank you for the info..i dont think its that bad..but i know other dogs that have and they just throw up alot...it was dead where she found it in the guest room..i dont know how it got in there..lol but ANYWAYS..shes just sleeping now..i made it cold and gave her blankies and turned on music for her..i think she will be ok..just wanted to know if theis happened to anyone else. |
Are you SURE she ate it and didn't hide it in your bed ? :D Maybe in your shoes ? or your laundry ? or your underwear ? or your...lol - you got the picture :) ....did you see her eat it ? |
my 2 are always after those things. once in a while they will get into the house and i always know it by the search and seek that ahia and buckey do. They have never caught one yet but i don't know what i would do if they did. I have been meaning to ask the vet about the harm in eating one but i always forget. Buckeye has got to go for a annual checkup soon so i will try to remember to ask. I hope maisy don't get sick over it. |
A lizzard? Ewwww! Im hoping Maizy just tucked it away somewhere safe for her to play with later than eating it too. However, if she is anything like Schatzie's personality, she too would have eaten it, LOL. |

Notice the lack of lizzard poison here. I think you are safe as can be! |
yes im sure she ate it..nasty i know..whats really gross is that she actually liked it more than a doggie cookie..since most of the time if she has something we want in her mouth we hold out a cookie and say "give" and she gives it up right away..well not the lizard..gross right??? well its been a few hours and shes ok..she hasn't pooped yet but she didn't eat to much so thats ok. shes as hyper as ever after her nap! well i have to go play with her & her bone now!! bye and thanks every1! |
Jewel once tried to bring a blue bird into the house in her mouth. When I made her drop it, the bird flew away. I think she just wanted to play with it. I'm glad she didn't kill the poor bird! |
I cant bellieve she actually ate the lizard!! Yuck!! |
I'm surprised that anyone else is surprised! If they are anything like mine, then they are natural vermin hunters! They may be miniaturized, but they are still a breed of terrier designed to go into holes and kill rats, lizards, and anything else small enough for them to kill. Their reward for this behavior in days of old? heh...use your imagination! We had a mouse once...Once... |
lol yah i know.. here in FL there are lots of stories of dogs eating lizards. so i wasn't surprised, i just didn't know what to do!!!!!!!!! |
