Wow London finally pooped! London has not pooped in 2 days! She wasn't eating either but we finally got her to eat little pieces of white chicken with olive oil, my mom said for it to pass thru her body better. So she ate and since i've been forcing her pedialyte she had this huge tummy because she hadn't poop. I did everything, massage her belly, tried giving her yogurt, walked her, she didnt do it. So my mom who is an RN said we have to put olive oil in her booty cause its very dangerous(and she has a belly hernia which is worse) so i did, i know it sounds gross but i injected olive oil into her booty with a syringe and a second later out came the poopy. She was constipated...i still dont know what else is wrong but it worked atleast for now. It was only a little bit but atleast she did it and she hasnt thrown up! She still has a lot of food in her belly but i was getting so worried. So if your baby is ever constipated if nothing else works try olive oil! |
Nice that you have an RN to oversee this. The average person might not want to try that without spervision from a health professional as you had. They do make newborn suppositories though. Tiny little low melting-point wax things you gently insert. I wonder if the vet would okay that for a constipated puppy? I knew about olive oil in the food, just never heard of it given in the other end but it probably works the same way the suppository does. Glad it got things moving for little London! Hoping she feels better soon. |

My little London hadn't pooped in 36 hours, so finally I called the vet. Vet suggested a bit of canned pumpkin. (NOT pumpkin pie filling.) Of course 2 seconds after I hung up the phone, London went poopie on her own, no pumpkin needed! |
Congratulations! it can be scary when your yorkie's not functioning at 110% |
