new user Hi, just registered today but did look at lots of info here in the past. I took my guy (Dexter) to have his teeth cleaned yesterday at the vet. I was so scared all day. He's 4 and healthy but with anethsia you never know! Everything went perfect - he did not need any extractions. His teeth are back to clean and white and I will start brushing them again to keep them that way. $550!!.. yikes. I almost didn't go ahead with the cleaning because of some negative info I read on the web about the procedure, but I am really glad I did. The vet said it will save his teeth and help his health. Look forward to sharing info and photos on this great forum.:) |

Hi and welcome to Yorkietalk, and good for you for taking care of his teeth! I heard about Petzlife tooth gel and spray here, and it is said to soften tartar, making it easier to brush away. We've been using it almost two years, and it seems to be working. I also use the Merrick Bully sticks, because I believe they help clean teeth. Brushing is also an important step, but it takes some time for them to be cooperative. Yorkies are prone to tartar, and everything you can do to help prevent it is great. Hope your baby has his teeth for many years to come! |
