My sad little Yorkie :( I just brought home a new puppy 2 days ago. My Suzi is having a hard time adjusting the addition! I feel bad for her. :( She seems depressed. I have been giving Suzi lots of attention too, however Suzi just does not know what to think of Miley. Suzi is a little timid of this 2lb furball. Is there anything I can do to help my Yorkie feel better? and know that she is still very important , and loved? I hate to see Suzi sad . |
It's been a week since I brought home Jaxon a little sister-he still looks sad! I'm just praying they will love each other soon! Let me know on your progress & where are the pictures????? Kay |
Its going to take some time. Lots of walks together should help. Good Luck to you. |
Do not fear! LOL! When we brought Beau (my roommate's yorkie) home, Jamie was terrified of him and VERY sad. You just kinda have to give everyone equal love and let them work it out. It took about 2 weeks for Jamie not to be scared of Beau... then in another 2 weeks he was doing the chasing... then in week 6 we kinda had to reign him in because he thought he could push Beau around. Now we've had Beau for 4 months and he and Jamie are best buddies. It's all worth it now when I see them all cuddled up and sleeping together. Then I think "What was I ever worried about?" Be prepared though... if and when they start playing it's gonna sound like they're killing each other. |

It will be 2 weeks Saturday that we brought Layla home. Sasha has been very depressed, her eyes are so sad. She is also clinging to us all the time. She lets the little one steal her toys and treats. The one good thing is that since Layla came Sasha is not so timid with other people. She tries to get attention now. They do run and chase each other in the yard sometimes so hopefully things will get better soon. Keep me posted on how Suzi is adjusting. |
I NEVER thought that your first baby would be sad to get a new pal. I always imagined them bouncing around having fun, glad to have a pal. I hope Suzi, and everyone else's pups get used to their new pals and start enjoying them soon! |
We brought home our new addition 3 1/2 weeks ago. Man was it the longest first two days:confused:. Our other 15mth old dog was none too happy:mad:.Finally after about two days he was getting a little more friendly.. He did not want to share anything with her. Yesterday I looked over and he went and laid down in the same bed with her;). So yes there probably is a light at the end of the tunnel:p. |

Thank you for the great replies! Little Miley is too young for walks right now. She has not had all her vaccines yet. I have noticed Suzi being clingy towards me, so i am trying to give her lots of extra love and reassurance. Suzi is also 15 months old. She does not know what to think of this little puppy ! Miley is not at all scared of Suzi. It is a little upsetting that Suzi is so scared of her! Being so tiny, and all ! Suzi is not at all aggressive , just timid, and scared of Miley. Miley struts around the apartment , not a care in the world ! I almost feel guilty picking up Miley and holding her! I am teaching my son to always pay attention to Suzi first, and give her lots of petting and love too. Since Miley is so young and small , I am much more proective over her right now, just because of her size and her fragilty. Yet this tiny Shih Tzu is so tough and darling, she is something else! I have allowed Suzi to approach Miley and be friends with her .Suzi is very curious about her, it is just when Miley starts moving around , and does her own thing, it makes Suzi sad. With time, i am hoping they will become great friends! I am expecting Miley to be bigger then Suzi as she grows older. |
It will happen. When we brought Baxter home, Zeke's nose was soooooo out of joint, that it actually took him 3 months before he would come into the same room as Baxter. I felt so bad for Zeke. Now they play, and sleep on the couch together, and getalong very well. Some thing that I didn't think would happen. I just had to keep telling Zeke that he would always be #1. (or let him think so lol) |
;)Your two will be fine. I brought a 10 week old yorkie weighing 13 oz. into a home where there had been only one 16 lb. yorkie for eight years. :confused:The older one, "Harley" was way ticked off. He growled, snarled, barked, and left the roomwhen the "Scooter" got near him. Harley, big as he is, was afraid of this little bundle of fur darting around. Have you ever seen a 16 lb Yorkie trying to hide in someone's lap? Trust me, it ain't pretty, or comfortable!LOL Anyway, it took about 2 weeks for Harley to accept that Scooter was here to stay. They are the best of buddies now, even with Scooter still being small(5lbs). Now that everything is good between them, we got "Rita" (about 6 weeks ago.) Harley & Scooter took one look at her, looked at each other and in doggy talk said " Oh, sh__, here we go again"!:eek::eek: |
I had two Yorkies Sebi and Sweet Pea. Sweet Pea passed away and Sebi seemed so depressed so we got a puppy - Cindy Lu, btw Sebi is 4 yrs old. When we first brought Cindy Lu home Sebi seemed disgusted. He did not want ANYTHING to do with her. He also seemed depressed. Well after about a week or so he started to give the puppy about 2 minutes of play time, then it started to increase and finally after about 3 weeks or so for the first time he got up and went to lay with her as she slept. I think also the puppy was SO little I think it turned him off and he got use to her. Give it time, they will bond eventually.:aimeeyork |
