Morkie question I just got a morkie that is mostly black with a little bit of white spots on her. Can someone tell me if her color will change as she gets older and how big she might get? Her mother is a yorkie at about 5-6 lbs and her father is a maltese at about 11 lbs. :) |
Wow how did that mommy yorkie do it, the male was twice her size :( I don't think you can get a definite answer as to the color and size, she will probably be between 6-11lbs I would assume, but color wise, she is mixed and you just kinda have to wait and see, I'd assume she will fade some perhaps into a greyish blue color? |
She will probably stay the same exact color - I am so jealous, I love the black ones :D |
Thanks!! I was looking for the ones with the tan/brown colors, but my in laws gave this one to me for free. So, I can't complain! I'm just excited to have one!! Thank you for your replies!!! :) |
4 Attachment(s) My cookie is a morkie from a Maltese and yorkie parentage. She started out very black when we first got her and is now very light in her summer puppy cut. I will try to include some photos for you to see. She is much smaller though, her parents were much smaller, mom was 4 lbs and dad 3 lbs. Attachment 281347 Attachment 281348 Attachment 281349 Attachment 281350 It's hard to look at them and imagine that she has changed so much. I loved her then but I love her so much more now. I hope she doesn't get any lighter but it will not change our love for her. |
I have a yorkie poodle cross bred and when I got him he was all brown with a light blonde mask at 9 months old he is now an all blonde color so it really is hard to tell what colors they will be. Tuckers mom was a sable colored poodle and his daddy had the traditional yorkie colors. Thats what makes cross breds so interesting cause you will never no what colors they will be. :). As far as his size goes, its really hard to tell. Tuckers parents are both around 4 pounds. Tucker is 9 pounds. Your little one may end up smaller or larger than the parents. Smaller bred dogs are usually fully grown (or slow down) when they are 6 to 8 months old. He is adorable..:) |
1 Attachment(s) This is my little Morkie Trevor.....he has changed a lot...and he is still changing.....I love him so much :) |
Morkie Pics 2 Attachment(s) I cant seem to find pics of him as a baby but he was black and tan- looked just like a yorkie you would have never thought he wasnt- as he reached a year and his hair grew out it was lighter and then after his first cut he has been gray and white. He has always had the body and build of a yorkie and now has gotten the maltese colors. Here are some pics of him now. |
Thank you for the pics! He is so cute!! |
I have two Morkies and love to look at everyone's pictures. So cute :) Welcome to YT btw ;) |
I think she might stay black I have a 13 week old morkie who is also black with a few white spots and had the same question. Check out this video I found of a beautiful 2 year old named Charlie! |
3 Attachment(s) I have a Morkie, Gucci - he started out dark, dark, dark. His face and head are silver white, legs a little tan and body is still mostly black, but I can see some light threads poking through. I'm guessing he will eventually turn light... we enjoy all the stages and can't believe the changes he's gone through over the past year (May 1 birthday). He's such an imp - tangled in the ground cover (April 09) in the first pic and chasing a pumpkin (Oct 08). Kathy and Gucci |
