It isn't when she is excited... it is when you go to pick her up. It started after our little scare with the neighbors dog. It isn't every time and I am really careful to tell her "uppy" before I just go and reach for her to pick her up but even with me she will tinkle a couple of drops and put her tail down like she is scared when you go to pick her up. I think it only happens when you pick her up. There are times that I have to pick her up though. I just don't know what to do. She is doing great with the puppy pads and training it is just this little scared thing. I am just sick that this happened with the neighbor dog to startle her so soon. When we first brought her home we had no problems what so ever with her being timid or scared or the tinkling thing. Any ideas on what I can do to help??? Do you really think that she will outgrow it??? Any suggestions at all to get her over this. I tried to do a search but couldn't come up with anything. I am just sick about it. :( |
id bring her around more dogs that are friendly to ensure her that its ok and not to be afraid of other dogs. Maybe some playdates? |

Chelsea used to tinkle a little when I'd go to pick her up, but hers was more of a happy excitement issue. It only lasted a month or so (thank God!). I think with a little time, and her assurance that you aren't going to hurt her, she will stop on her own. |

It's called submissive urination. In the wild dogs will urinate to show submission to another dog. She is submitting to you. Some outgrow this and others do not. |

It's likely she may do it when she gets excited too. Don't talk baby talk to her...wait a few minutes to greet her and that'll help. |

Ok, my husband called to make me feel better. Our neighbors Yorkie Bella who is 7 months old got away from her Mommy. She was running down the street and Bill was in our drive way getting ready to leave. He put the Jeep in park and called Bella. She ran right to him but tinkled when he went to pick her up. Bella has a BAD habit of running away from our neighbors. She thinks it is a game. So he said "see dear? Bella does it too." Did it make me feel better? Not really... Thought I had to share anyway. |
