London's Sister I adopted my little London (puppy mill rescue) from the Human Society almost two weeks ago. When I picked her out she was in a kennel with her sister. They are both about 3 years old. It was difficult for me to choose which one I really wanted ( I wanted both). My daughter talked me into picking London because her sister was scared of everything and London was much more outgoing. The first few days London was home the Humane Society kept in touch with me regarding her sister because the people who adopted her kept calling and saying they were bringing her back because she wouldn't eat or anything. Then finally after about 4 days they decided to keep her because she started eating and coming out of her shell. I actually met the lady at Wal-Mart as we were both looking at "clothes" for our babies. I asked her what breed of dog she had and then after a few minutes we figured out we had adopted the sisters! It was great and we exchanged emails, phone numbers, etc. and planned to meet at the park for walks. Well, monday I get a text message from the lady saying her boyfriend returned the dog to the Humane Society!!! (Unbelievable) She was heartbroken but told me the Human Society would probably call me. Yesterday they called and offered her to me, all I have to do is pick her up! Here's my problem: We have 3 dogs now and I'm really concentrating on London. My husband doesn't want me to take on another dog, but my heart is just sick that she was returned to the shelter! My heart is telling me run and get her but my head and husband are saying no. I'm going to have a difficult day because I will be thinking about this every minute. I know I will end up not picking her up because thats what my hubby wants me to do but I will always regret not having the sisters. He say she will get adopted again because she's a Yorkie, I know that's true, but I feel so sorry for her. Sorry to ramble but I just had to "talk" to someone about this. |
I say go with your heart (: But that's just what I would do :) |
Men can usually be "persuaded" into anything ;) If you catch my drift. Sometimes a little bartering is in order. That's how I got Lilly, who is actually his dog now because he loves her so much  |
WOW...what a tough spot you are in. Someone said something very wise to me the other day as I am contemplating purchasing another dog but have a DH who said NO! They told me "DH's give out forgiveness a lot quicker than they give permission". She's probably missing her sister terribly. Good luck! :) |

I LOVE this - its sad but true  |
I'm not sure what I would do in this situation - she is probably missing her sister and would be forever greatful - and you will feel good rescuing her:thumbup: But 4 dogs? Are you up for it? :animal36:animal36:animal36:animal36 |
I am a softie but so is my husband!!! I would have to go and get her! Good luck!! |

If there's anyway to get her and work it out with your husband I would get her. At the shelter I volunteer at they have several pairs and they cannot be separated. They tend to stay a little longer but do get adopted eventually. |
Oh I hope you can get the sister......they both are missing their other half. Maybe one of the two will "connect" to the hubby. |
My heart says to go and get her. I think about JoJo's little brother and wonder if he got a good home. However, there is no way I could have given JoJo the attention he has gotten if I had another one. Also, the cost is a big factor. Giving the cost incurred to care for 4 dogs would be very expensive. I surely am glad I don't have to buy Frontline and Sentinel at the same time. My billfold is still hurting from the Frontline. It sounds like the sister needs a lot of attention also. Let's pray that she gets the home she needs and will have lots of help coming out of her little shell. Wish we could help all of the little angels but we can't. Good luck with your decision. |
My heart is breaking I totally agree. London needs A LOT of attention, and our Lab is feeling a little jealous so now we are concerned about him. London is scared of him so I carry her whenever he is in the house. I honestly don't feel it would be fair to London, Rory or Barkley. This is a VERY tough decision but I am sure her sister will get adopted. When I adopt a dog I make a life long decision, I don't go back on the decision and return the dog. It totally infuriates me that someone would do that, but I can't fix everyone else's problems! I have to worry about my babies. I will be making the phone call today to tell them I have decided not to pick London's sister up. That will be a VERY difficult phone call to make. |
Maybe you can posted her information and the shelter information in the Rescue Section ~ so maybe someone here can adopt her ;) |
