My 13 week old Yorkie ears flopped today Her ears have been perfect since we got her 2 weeks ago and today when she woke up FLOP :p. I have heard of taping them up, which I have never done. Our other yorkies have never had this problem..:aimeeyork |
re: floppy ears My little Tank's ears sometimes flop over when he's tired...I'm not sure if there's a relation between being sleeping and the ears flopping, but they stick up all other times. I think it's adorable, so I never worried about taping ears. With Joey, I didn't even know about taping ears (yes, I bought him being quite naive to Yorkies), but his ears stood up from about 17 weeks on. If you really care about the ears, you could tape them, but if it were me, I wouldn't. |
Its not important just funny. My other Yorkies stood up all the time. I will still love her with upright or floppy little ears. Thanks |
She's probably teething and they can flop during that time. Were her ears tips shave when you got her? If you don't keep them trimmed the hair can weigh them down. I would keep an eye on her and if they are trimmed and you want them to stand up there is a site that has very good instructions on how to tape them. I'll see if I can find it. |
All of my guys ears flopped when they were teething but went back up once they were done teething..... I would make sure the tips are shaved.... |
Thank you. When I got her the breeder had been taping her ears. I will look for the site regarding tipping of the years. She is very hairy :D |
My late fourteen-year-old Yorkie, Buttons, wouldn't hold his ears up on a regular basis. If he got excited he would hold one up, sometimes both. The vet said it was because he was just lazy. So she might just be having an off couple of days and might return to holding them up. My advice would be to just wait and see. |
Bears ears flopped around the same time. The vet said it was because of teething, the process robs the body of essential nutrients like calcium during this process and concentrates the nutrients on the teething process thus making your yorkie's ears flop. They should bounce back no problem. :animal-pa |
I've seen it all... Jonah had one up and one down, then both down, one up and now both are up...hahahaha! Tape, shave and pray...:)... |
Uni's were down when I got her, then one up, then back down, then both up. I didn't have to tape them at all. If you shave the tips most likely they'll pop back up. |
Dudley's goes back and forth too. When we got him Sunday a week ago they were standing up. Now, both are down. He has the short muzzle and little teddy bear look and if they want to flop I'm just going to let them flop. I thought about tapeing them and the breeder said they would stand after he gets through teething. With his little face, he would be cute flopped or standing. Kayla has enough ears for both of them. Hers never flopped. |
