You know parvo is a gamble if you are not carefull. I stopped at a petsmart after picking up a puppy from a breeder and My daughter who was with me thought she saw a flee and we stopped at a petsmart along the way home because the drive was 5 hours one way. We would ahve gotten home by 11-1am she didn't want us to have to bath the pup when we got home so we stopped. Thank goodness they weren't busy and had just cleaned up the grooming area. I guess we were lucky this time. The pup was 13 weeks old when we picked her up. She had on board first vaccines.
I found another product good for alot of things called Dephyze its supposed to be good against anthrax also. We clean everything with it, bedding floors, crates. I like the product.

I'm of the "super paraoid freaky mom" club. I would NEVER take my puppy somewhere public (particularly where alot of dogs frequent) until their puppy vaccinations were all done.

I am sorry but you are just WRONG! There have been plenty of cases that a puppy has contracted PARVO from not being fully vaccinated. There is NO WAY that you should take your puppy into places such as Petsmart or even a dog park prior to having all of their vaccines in place. PARVO is deadly and can live for a very long time on hard surfaces and also on grass etc. There are too many puppymill puppies that are shipped across the country, end up at the local pet shop and then die from diseases that have been spread to an entire truck up puppies.
Parvo

Dogs acquire infection with Parvo virus by ingesting (meaning to swallow) the infectious virus particles. The Parvo virus is one of the hardiest viruses known to science and this virus can live outside the body in a dormant yet infectious state for one to two years. Puppies do not have to be in direct contact with other dogs to catch Parvo since the virus can be spread by people's clothing, shoes, and other inanimate surfaces, and can even travel on the dust in the air. A dog (or puppy) who is shedding the Parvo virus can defecate (go to the bathroom) on a surface and then a susceptible puppy can come by and sniff or lick this surface over a year later and can still catch Parvo.

Parvo vaccine at 6 weeks followed by a booster at 9, 12, 15, and 18 weeks. Then the puppy (dog) should receive a booster once yearly thereafter. The main thing to remember in this regard is that the puppy series for Parvo is begun very early (usually around 6 weeks).

Common disinfectants (such as Lysterine, Lysol, alcohol, etc) will not kill Parvo. The only two things which will kill Parvo outright are fire (burning contaminated blankets, newspapers, etc) and a dilute Clorox solution (1 part Clorox to 32 parts water).

Most dogs are done with the distemper vaccines at 12 weeks old around here its done at 6, 9 and 12 weeks some do a 4th (15weeks), but i dont so at 12 weeks they are considered fully vaccinated against pravo if they have had 3 boosters. some vets do a 4th. i dont do the 4th. the way the vet explains the 4th is, the first 3 were puppy vaccines and the 4th is the adult but if you read the vaccine they are (most of the them) are for puppies and adults.

5 boosters of distemper? i have never never heard that.

Petsmart and a doggy daycare/groomer said they could groom her under the age of 16 weeks without rabbies vac. They should have all their shots with the exception of rabbies by the time they are 12 weeks old, I guess i'm in the minority in that I don't think it's awful to bring a puppy that age for grooming, if the place your bringing it to does in fact check records and make sure that the dogs are up to date on all shots they are required to have then there isn't an issue IMO

**I do all my grooming myself, but for other reasons. LOL

I'm not even going to start giving my pups shots(when I start breeding next year) until they're 10 weeks. They give them too early anymore, and this is why they're not working as well. Mine will have them at 10,13 and 16 weeks, then they will be ready for their new homes. My baby who is now 1 is in getting groomed now, she hasn't even had a rabi shot yet as she's too small

I totally agree with this. When we got Laddy at 9 weeks and took him to our vet they told us he had been started on his shots to early and had to start all over again. He didnt finish all his shots until he was 4 months old. I would never ever let Petsmart here groom my babies after watching them groom others through the window and I would not ever let anyone groom them until they were done with their vaccinations but maybe I like others am just over protective.

i just wouldnt feel comfortable taking a chance on waiting that long to vaccinate..parvo can be tracked it..it can be brought on to your property by another dog or on someones shoe who has walked through, then they come and visit or whatever and its active on your property..JMO not telling anyone what to do or how to do it. but i would be really worried if someone waited that long.

i do my vaccines as soon as i can....

I had my Suzi when she was going on 9 weeks old. She did have her 1rst round of vaccines and been dewormed twice. i had to go to Petsmart for her puppy food and a bed, toys. I carried her the whole time. Nobody touched her.
She was fine . The vet told me she had started the vaccines too early and I started all over again with her shots too. I did not take her in to get groomed until all her shots were completed.
i have a very good groomer at Petsmart that I trust. I take Suzi to him , and to him only. i find that it is not the PLace itself, but the actual groomer. If you find a good groomer that can be trusted with your baby and does a good job, then this is what matters most of all.
Many people here on YT are always saying how bad Petsmart is for grooming. However, It is NOT the Place in itself. There are always going to be good groomers and bad ones. It's a matter of being selective and finding the right one.
I got lucky, and did find a god groomer who I stick to. I am bringing home a new baby tomorrow who is going to require a lot of grooming care. I would not take her in until all vasccines are completed , and she will be going to Ryan, just like Suzi.
