washing feet after a walk Does anyone else wash their dogs' feet after going for a walk? Am I being ridiculous? I take my Yorkie, Edie, and my Westie on walks in the morning (early, to beat the heat) around our neighborhood. After we get home, I put them both in the utility sink. I spray their paws with a dilute shampoo solution, lather, and rinse. It only takes a minute for each dog. I started doing this in case they stepped in something bad during the walk, but it could prevent illness too, I suppose. But my dogs have all their innoculations, so it's probably not necessary. Edie's paws always have some visible dirt wash off. Hopefully, this is keeping my house a little cleaner. |
No you are not being ridiculous :) I had a Bichon who was trained to wipe his feet on a foot rug whenever he came back inside from being out. I would say "wipe feet" and he did. ;) My little ones, while I don't wash their feet every time we go out, I do a quick wipe with baby wipes of the bottom of their pads, especially if its wet and muddy outside. |
i think it's GREAT that you wash their feet after their walk. maybe just make sure they don't get dry paws? :p they sell lotion for dogs ;) i bought i small bottle to put on milu's belly because she has dry skin. |
I do this all winter and the rest of the year if it is wet or muddy. |
I have always wiped Buds feet after a walk. He is trained to sit on the entrance rug until I take his leash off, I then pick him up and go into the kitchen and take a damp paper towel and wipe each paw and his lipstick as well. I feel better knowing his paws are clean in the house and on the furniture. |
I do too. :) |
I think that's a great idea - not ridiculous at all. :) I use baby wipes on my little Bella's feet after her walks. |
Yep, I do it every day. It's part of her daily grooming....which comes after her evening walk. |
I do it everyday too :) I use paw wipes from petsmart!!! |
your not alone...I always wash his feet after being outside |
Lol, I would never ever think of doing this. I guess we don't take our shoes off when we come inside, so we bring "stuff" in, and sometimes I walk barefoot, especially in the back yard, and don't wash my feet when I come in. If we had more actual dirt or water where there was mud I would, but no just because he has been outside, I don't wash his feet. Are you guys afraid of germs, or dirt? |
I would if they got into mud or a lot of dirt, but normally they are just in the grass in our yard. So, no I don't wash their feet everytime. Mine are in and out all day long, that would be a lot of feet washing! Ben does get his underside wiped with baby wipes though. He has long hair and poor aim ;) |
Yea sometimes i wash munchies little feet YEA SOMETIMES I WASH MUNCHIES LITTLE FEET. LIKE TODAY HE STEPED IN SOME POO:confused: BUT I HAVE THIS SPRAY THAT IS LIKE A WATERLESS BATH. YOU JUST SPRAY AND RUB IT IN AND IT CLEANS |
Honestly , no Its never crossed my mind. Her feet are so tiny, I don't see the need at all. It could be because her feet compared to 2 teenagers with dirty football boots seem like nothing in comparison.:p |
